Well, tbh, I love my SD18’s overdrive channel tone. But, that said, I think the SD clean channel is terribly underrated! I like that tone better than the clean channel on the Shiva that I had for years, and everybody raves about Shiva cleans. I also LOVE my Tumnus, though it’s not currently on my board. I will sing some more Wampler praises, though. My current board has a Pantheon Deluxe, which I had been using for some edge of breakup + blues tones through my XTC 3534’s clean channel. But my 80s metal band called a last minute rehearsal last week and I didn’t want to bring my full rig. So I ran my board with the Pantheon into the clean channel of my singer’s DSL combo. Obvi not quite as good as my Bogner, but I’ll be damned if that pedal didn’t keep up just fine. Did not sound like “pedal distortion” at all. Very satisfying to play thru. So, yeah. 👍🏼

Just a question I like to toy with every now and then. My Hamers are never going anywhere, of course … but I sometimes wonder what would be my go-to guitar company if I didn’t have my beloved Hamers. 🤔🤔🤔 What about y’all? After Hamer, what’s the next best thing, in your view?

Love it! I’ve recently reconnected with my old ‘92 RG470 — I joined a hair metal cover band, so I had no choice but to pull her back up, get her a good setup, and let ‘er rip, lol. But now it’s got me thinking I should get another Ibby or two to go with my Hamers. 😳 Theyre fun axes, and yours is a beauty!

My Shiva’s been my main rig for a long time now. A couple years ago, I tried the XTC 3534 with an eye towards replacing the big/heavy rig with something more back-friendly portable, but like you, for me, the 3534 just didn’t have “the sound.” Thanks for the great, detailed post & photo essay!
