I went through the same thing with my Dad. After his colostomy he got real down so be prepared for that. On the other hand they gave him a year, no more than 2, but he made it for 5. The important thing is to treasure the time you have left together and make the most of it.

I have a 1975 Guild F40 that I bought new so I have the sucker for 30 years, BUT, I rarely play acoustic anymore so it is not my #1. My Nash made warmoth Tele that I have had for 3 years is still my #1. It was displaced by my Newport for a short time but I keep going back. Why? It is basic, simple, no frills, and I can get a lot out of it. The only thing different about it is the Korina body. Overall it is very reflective of my personality. The only other piece I own that I have for more than 3 years is a Marshall 2x12 Cab with 75 Watt Celestions that I bought when I started playing again back in 1993. I'm a gear slut.
