  1. Buddy of mine had a 72 Skylark with Cragars and air shocks in the back, and an 8 track up front (in 85!!!) and this album plus an Eagles album. high school. How many times did I risk death? Every time I got in his car.
  2. Rubber biscuit! some serious hum going on in the recording. Think it was Duck Dunn’s bass amp.
  3. Enjoying it right now with some of Wisconsin’s finest:
  4. DL-301 mk2-> DP47 -> Nakamichi CA5 -> Aragon 4004 -> HSU HB1mk2 + VTF2 mk5 -> my ears -> my soul. Canadian excellence to Japanese moving coils to Japanese servo-controlled decks to Japanese precision control to ‘Murican iron to Korean sonic air transducers. Interesting chain with fabulous results.
  5. Very 1985 tonight. Lots of reverb and delay. But some good popular songs. Saw John Parr open up for Heart at the Worcester Centrum in ‘85
  6. Been spinning a lot of vinyl lately. Got a new preamp* that slams the bass ( and is astounding in all other areas ) in the phono stage. tonight was Maria McKee’s eponymous album. To Miss Someone? Damn. Early 90s Nakamichi CA5. Ding, dang!
  7. I love the playfulness between the two, and the excellent use of stereo panning at the end of the song. Just a coquettish bit of fun, kind of a non-Christmas-y "Baby it's Cold Outside.."
  8. Energy! Joy! Enthusiasm! Entertainment!
  9. Great fun when doing serious hi fi rig listening
  10. My brain hurts when I try to teach it a new coordination like that. I literally can't sit still. I experienced this with learning the basics of drumming, or with a new juggling trick. I could get in about five minutes of trying and then would have to stand up and walk it off. Eventually, suddenly, it clicks and it's like tying your shoes. But getting the brain to accept it? Ouch!
  11. Hey, I used-ta have that EP! Things disappear through the years. I must have lost a box of albums in a move. Everything Works if You Let It is another great CT soundtrack song, up there with Reach Out and I Must be Dreamin' from the Heavy Metal soundtrack.
  12. Thanks for this. So much of finding new music is a recommendation like this. I downloaded one of her albums and was streaming in while shooting pool, really digging it, when Mrs. Toadroller asked just who I was listening to. I started to explain the "What's Spinnin'" thread and how this came up and... "No. Who is it?" "Oh, the name is Janelle Monae. Do you know her?" "Yeah- she was in that video by Fun. Their producer is in that other band, and he produced some Taylor, and he did Lorde's most recent album and..." ...and I'm definitely not hip to the current music scene, despite having three of the six young Toadrollers in the teenage phase. Enjoy some Fun, featuring Janelle Monae. The video is a hoot, too.
  13. I learned how to change chords better by practicing this song. Not that I can remember how it goes now... But a great song and album.
