Random (Music and Guitar Related) Thoughts Thread
Toadroller replied to LucSulla's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I dunno, needs some word-smithing yet: it tends to get out of hand, girl because I'm slaking my thirst, yeah slaking it with something, something other than what is necessary to quench it. See, it kind of falls apart on that last line. -
I'd love to host it up here in Maine for a turn. How do I get on the list?

2014 Self-Denial Challenge

Aw, heck. We've got 27 hours or so. Live it up! -
The kids and I watched it again over the long weekend when they realized Martin Freeman played Arthur. As fun as the books were, as much as I enjoy Zoeey, and as star-studded as the cast was, it was a pretty mediocre flick.

Cowboy hat. And my wife surprised me with some Ibanez Paul Gilbert love ordered with the case from our local mom and pop. They do like to see her come through the door in early December: Love the three-piece neck. Neat idea. It's pretty beefy and also feels a little wide, but in a good way. Like there's more room to grab the strings. And the Dimarzio Injectors / Area 67s. Fun!

You've got some lefties in the first run? That's awesome! -

Nope, doesn't count. Next thing you know, you'll be telling me that some had Kahlers on 'em. I like that one, but...would it have killed the boys from Kalamazoo to install two more dots on the fretboard? I mean, it looks a tad incomplete, as is. The extra dots seem to have materialized in the form of several extra switches and knobs. I keed, I keed. Someday I'll try a Heritage. I never see 'em around here and I have to admit none have ever looked very sexy to me. But we don't play looks, we play sounds and feel. For a minute there I thought "unexpected shape from Heritage; reverse headstock.... Diablo would be into it." Then I remembered SouthpawGuy and realized it was a lefty. Anyway, I, for one, welcome our new under-lords. FYI, introductory Hamers sourced from the HFC by FHOC'ers have a $100 premium on them. Oh, and stay away from the Newports and Phantom A5/A7s... at least until I have one of each.

PUP change on a Hamer Standard (MIK)

Is that the maple-bodied import Standard? I have one and Alnico 2 based hum buckers took the shrill out of it. -
Happy birthday Johnny!

I grab my Daytona But since this arrived last week, I'm on a "learn how to play bass" kick and am gaining insights on how instruments work together. Fun to learn!

I need a better clip-on tuner (w/ Hamer content)
Toadroller replied to Feynman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
^^^ To be fair, both aid in their own forms of tuning. -
That thing is all sorts of awesome. Love seeing it. Can't wait to see Montelovesco's build complete.
