  1. Tommy Bolin. Got about 25 CD's of his (Solo, Zepher, Cobham, Deep Purple, James Gang). I've been a fan from his early days in Boulder CO to his short-lived solo career. Billy Cobham's Spectrum album still gives me chills today. I even owned one of his Strats for a while until I returned it to the Family. RIP Tommy.
  2. Another big happy Birthday to you bad-ass dudes!!!
  3. If you have a Jazzmaster jones, check out the Malden Liquids. I have one and it's an amazing guitar (after a few tweeks) but, you can pick them up for about $350-$400!
  4. Forget plastic or Carbon nylon... just grab a Mexican peso and rock like The Rev. Billy G!
  5. Check these guitars out. I was thinking of having him create one for me. He'll do pretty much anything you can dream up. http://www.spaltinstruments.com/galleryguitars1.html
  6. David, You could always get one of these Gibby headstock overlays. They look very real. A lot of Edwards owners have done that for the exact same reason.
  7. Tubby's!!!!! Truly ear-opening. I think the reason these speakers don't get the kudos they deserve is that not many guys actually own them! I have two and they are amazing speakers. Great, tight bottom and a sweet top-end with more harmonics than you've ever heard come out of your rig before. And, even better is mixing them with a different 2nd speaker in a 2x12. I've tried mixing them with 1/2 dozen other speakers V30, GB, G12M etc. The V30 and the Tubby Alnico are magicial. They are expensive, but if you can, buy one, you won't regret it.
  8. GuitarTown at Copper Mt. Colorado 2005 Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Mark Selby, Buddy Guy, Lee Ritenour, Eric Johnson. Aaaah, lots of notes per dollar.
  9. There a lot to the being 'unconventional'. That's the way WCR does it. Jim threw out all the rules and build each PU to its final tone, not by original manufacturing or materials.
  10. I just read an interesting interview with the guy who's building the limited replicas of EVH's guitar. He said when they pulled the p/u out to duplicate it, it registered 0 on his ohm meter. He thought he broke it taking it out and freaked! But they tested it and it sounded great. It was definitely messed up, but in a good way. Go figure!
  11. Sure they do. Look at the Dimarzio website under Vintage Output and they different list neck and bridge models for most their pu's. Although, not as many sets under the Shredder HO section.I just find it interesting that even Hamer and Gibson does it. They mix Seymours' '59/JB in a lot of instruments as well as Gibby putting in 490R/490T (although crappy) Burstbucker1/2 sets in guitars.
  12. This just hit me as very weird regarding Humbuckers. OK, the humbucker guitars most of us consider to be in the 'Holy Grail' category are the old Gibby Flametops like Billy Gibbons' "Pearly Gates", Claptons 335's neck PU "Woman-tone", Larry Carlton's 335, Flying V's, etc. All with either Pre-PAF's, PAF's, and even some right after that as 'Early Patent Number' P/U's (My 60's 335 has these and they are phenomenal) Here's where it gets interesting... All these guitars with PAF's had similar pickups installed. None of current over/under-wound pickups. And, what I've read is all the older PAF era pickups were made similar and just installed into either the neck or bridge position randomly by the factoryworker. No ohm matching or selecting. And these guitars are mostly considered the watermark of tone. (Yes, there are always dog guitars and dog PU's) Now, God forbid you install two identical ohm HB's in a guitar today. Every PU maker now makes sets that consist of a neck and bridge that are completely different! If the old way is considered the pinnacle of tone, why are we obsessed with this? OK, talk amongst yourselves.
  13. Gilda doing Patti Smith with Paul Shaffer playing drums!
  14. Here's a guitar that I saw in the 70's He was amazing. I went out a picked up their album and it was killer!! They did a great version of ZZTop's 'Chevrolet.' The guys name is Snuffy Walden. He went on to TV scoring and has did 'Thirty Something' 'West Wing' and many others. The bands name was Stray Dog. I have two of their LPs. (I need to transfer them to CD)
  15. Yeah, He's amazing, And most don't know that he plays a ton of guitar parts on Aeorsmith's "Get your Wings" The producer called him in when Perry couldn't cut the tracks clean enough. If you listen to Train kept a rollin', you can really hear Hunters licks in the solos. They stand out.
  16. Tommy Bolin (Zephyr, James Gang, Deep Purple, Solo) Steve Hunter (Secret studio player for Aerosmith, Lou Reed Live) Mike Keneally (Zappa, Solo) Robben Ford (Yellowjackets, Miles Davis, Solo) Warren Haynes (Govt Mule, Allman Bro)
  17. I was Jones'n for Gregs Trans Black Robin. I would've grabbed it but this Redwood came available and I couldn't resist.
  18. Those guys at Musicground always have wacky high-end stuff. Ridiculously expensive though.
  19. Great to hear about your wife. My wife had the same thing done about 5 years ago and now she's skiing! So, anything is possible. I can really use the TonePros bridges. PM sent.
  20. It sold too - Thanks for asking. Here' s ebayer that usually sells them. It's where I got mine, he's trustworthy, I had no problem at all with the deal (even though he is in Japan). It can't hurt to sent him an email and ask what he has for sale. I got mine directly from him and not on ebay. (He gave me a better price too) http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmijsixstringskatana
  21. The SG is going to a new home... Bluesking's. - Thanks Justin!
  22. The Marshall 50 watt is now in a new home. Come on ya'll that cool Edwards LP is still sittin' here!
  23. curry, You are absolutely right. This Edwards LP is 7lbs 14 oz. Great weight for a Paul.
  24. The neck on the Edwards is slightly bigger than a Gibson Slim 60's. It has a bit more meat to it, but not as far as the 50's style carve. Yes, it has Duncan's. A '59 SH-1 at the neck & a JB HS-4 at the bridge.
