REALLY? how do you tell? the LPC is officially off the block....there were a lot of things the seller we not honest with me about that i am now learing, (not factory kahler, re-fret)....i probably paid too much for it, but its a great player and i enjoy playing it....so ill just keep it. You can tell because the frets lay over top of the binding instead of stopping at it. Looks like the seller got you on that guitar if you all this was not disclosed up front. Still looks like a nice guitar and the little changes are no big deal (knobs, strap buttons, refret, new nut), but that Kahler route lock nut and lock nut kill the value. Hope it works out.

Anyone try the RS Guitarworks Ultimate Hamer Upgrade Kit?
RoyB replied to Kurt L's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Despite what's listed above the kit does not have a .05 cap it has a Luxe .015 cap that's very close to the Hamer value of .01. -
Guess who's playing through Ace Frehley's rig Tuesday Night?
RoyB replied to BCR Greg's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Sounds like fun Greg! Looking forward to some video of the show. It's fun to plays star equipment. I get to play through Ace's reunion tour rig all the time and I even break out the "shock me Mutron every now and then. -

Rick's Hamer Day Tripper Special question
RoyB replied to RoyB's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Nope they are painted. Rick said they were "stickers" on the real one and are coming off. So looking at the photo in his book you can see there are parts of them missing, so we duplicated the missing parts of the letters. -
Rick's Hamer Day Tripper Special question
RoyB replied to RoyB's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Well it's been a long time since we started this topic, but the guitar is done and back in it's owners hands. Here are some photos of the finished job. Thanks cmatthes for the help. -
The advise above is the safest way, but I like to work form the front not the inside.

Rick's Hamer Day Tripper Special question
RoyB replied to RoyB's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
We frame by framed viewed the video today and found there is something on the neck from the 12th fret to the body and there are names on the bass side horn, so help a brother out with any live photos of even if you think you can remember what's on the back of the neck. -
Rick's Hamer Day Tripper Special question
RoyB replied to RoyB's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Well I've been trying hard to find details on this guitar and so far here is the best I've found. It's Day Tripper live from Chicago 1981. The Beatles is upside down on the back (frame 1:39 and 1:51) -

Rick's Hamer Day Tripper Special question

It's been a nutty week, but let me see if I can find that stuff too (along with scanning some pics). You could even just scan a sheet of the letter if that's cool. -
Rick's Hamer Day Tripper Special question
RoyB replied to RoyB's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
It's a real 1982 (I think) Hamer Special that was messed up. -

It doesn't have the sweeps (or tails) like the Hamer logo. -

It looks like Letraset Bookman does not exist anymore. All the versions are Old style and it's not the same at all. -

Any shots you have will be great. Here is what we have so far. -
Other than the photo from Rick's book has anyone seen the guitar or more photos of it? I want to know if it had the Beatles logo on it anywhere and where Rick, Robin, Tom and Run E. the only names on it?

I see Charvel/Jackson being brought up because of what Fender has done with them, but really I was a huge collector of those guitars and other than FMIC bringing back the Strat head on the Charvel line I can't see a single thing they have done good to the brand. The prices for the real quality line are so high it's cheaper to buy a San Dimas, and to me I've never played one that would touch an old one. Plus for years after they took over they were having quality control issues and really turning out some pure junk with necks twisting, paint falling off and general poor finish quality. They turned Gretsch is to an Import only line full of $3000+ Japanese guitars. Will they sell Hamer? I don't think so because I believe they want a Gibson style guitar in their line, but be sure they will do what ever they need to do to insure that they brand makes money. I'm not geting all wrapped up in the Jol's gone (I am sorry to see him go) because people leave just like the other pioneers who have been mentioned here and companies go on, but the question is will things be ran the way you would like to see them ran or will hamer turn into another Schector or Gretsch with of their production being Import?
-
But the guys building are not calling the shots. FMIC is and they are ran by business men and lawyers not musicians and they make decisions based on monetary gains not quality (they don't always go hand in hand).

Phantom GT, Judas Priest style ;)
RoyB replied to murkat's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Man I wish I could git that one off you, it needs to be with my Vector KK -
Well the other new bridge and string block are now done and so it the refined version of the first bridge, so here are the photos. The string block is solid aluminum and is a direct fit for a G&L and is a amazing upgrade from the stock plastic version, so it will be for sale loose as well.
-
I think it would look great on a Talladega. Have you thought about sending one to Hamer? Until we really test it I don't know what all we will do with it.
-
It would not fit any stock body and would require the neck to be pitched by 3 degrees like a Hamer/Gibson to work right (unless it's sunk in the body).
-
Thanks guys we are very happy with it and can't wait to try it on a guitar.
