Well, I’m still waiting on my order. Just sent another inquiry to them. I’m not bugging them, it’s been over a month since I was told my order was #33 in line with a build rate of 5-10 kits per day.

I guess it’s time to learn how to do this shit myself. I certainly appreciate the time savings a pre wired kit affords, but waiting 2 months is just ridiculous.

I’ve always had good experience with RS in the past, but won’t be ordering from them in the future. Regardless of how busy they purport themselves to be, the complete lack of any communication is not something I have the patience for anymore.

Heating up your soldering gun is pretty much like being halfway there. Most are simple circuits with plenty of diagrams or YouTube instructionals out there. I can say that the diagram that came with my kit was different from how the guitar was wired up. But, the guitar's "guts" have apparently been changed many times over the years. I did have a buzzing issue that I noticed a few days after my last post. I had only checked that everything was working, i.e. tap check with a screwdriver, volume check, tone check. That was about it. I didn't get a chance to actually spend time with it until a few days later. The buzz was very loud so I got back on the phone with Billy and he walked me through fixing it. He explained to me about grounds loops and shielded wire, and how their Super Pots work. So great phone support. Maybe that's why only 4 or 5 kits get built each day. Billy is the only one there who solders so if he's also the only one on phone support then he's a one-man show. The phone girl sure didn't know anything. I did speak with a guy named Roy briefly when Billy wasn't there but he didn't fix my problem. Also when I ordered my kit they were packing everything up preparing for a flood. Even while doing that, Billy spent about 45 minutes on the phone with me helping me make a decision about which kit would best fit my guitar. I'm thinking of ordering another kit from them for a different guitar because after fixing the issue with this one, nothing to do with the actual kit from RS Guitar works by the way, I am absolutely in love with how it sounds now. And completely satisfied with my experience with RS now that I know it just takes a while to get my order in hand.

1 or 2 hours and a dozen solder points vs a couple of months?.. I've wired my own active/passive pickups/controls/switches for decades with coil splitting, phase changing, adding on board preamps... there are so many Schematics/tutorials out there, so much fun, plus love getting intimate with the instrument, not to mention the cost savings... and YOU'LL LEARN SO MUCH 👍

I would also advise that RS Guitarworks are not the only game in town selling pre-wired assemblies made of quality components.  Mojotone comes to immediate mind, but I'm sure there are several others out there.
