To me the value of artist association is when the instrument has been played live by the artist. In this case the artist plays mostly acoustics, and when in rare cases she plays electric it's her other Hamers. Looking at the great condition of the guitar it tells us it spent most of its time in a case, meaning it got very little use by the artist. It really wasn't being sold as a "I'm famous buy my guitar" though. For the condition it looked to have been in, that's a really nice price. I took a look at Kaki King's socials, and it seems like for the most part, it's all her. She's sold other stuff such as some nice pedals because now she's using plugins to do all the weird stuff that some of the eventide pedals do. She's also a "working musician". I see this as more of a "pro owned" guitar, and the writeup was way better than most reverb descriptions, and the pictures were actually GOOD. It was an ad put up by a guitarist looking to sell a nice guitar to other guitarists. And, I mean, if she's got 3 other newports (at least), having one as a "backup" is pretty normal. 4 Quote

Steve Haynie Posted May 31, 2025 Posted May 31, 2025 I have heard of Kaki King for years. She may be limited to being known mostly by musicians, but that is enough to allow her to pay her bills. 4 Quote
