tbonesullivan Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 Looks like it's in great shape, definitely a chance for someone to pick up a really nice one. Also look at that grain on the top. Considering that Kaki King is a big Ovation fan, her having had some Hamers would definitely make sense. Now I'm curious to see what the other two look like, especially the original Cherry one with the different tailpiece. 3 Quote

She was all over the guitar press in the '00s and was known for her percussive approach to acoustic: She's changed direction a few times over the years, adding electric guitar and multimedia to her shows. 2 Quote
kizanski Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 "This is a completely custom guitar based on the Hamer Newport series." What is "completely custom" about it? It's a blonde Newport. 2 Quote

Kinda figured she would have had a manager or something take the picture, but then again I think she's pretty much a one person show. Quote

Steve Haynie Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 Kaki King just played in my area... and I missed the show. 😑 Quote
DarkHammer Posted May 29, 2025 Posted May 29, 2025 I just watched her videos, these are the most unusual guitar performances ever! I like how they project light on her guitar to create visuals. Very cool and innovative! 1 1 Quote
Saul Goodman Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 Cool music and graphics on her guitar presentation. But those claws are anti bonizizer. Quote
tbonesullivan Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 Looking at her instagram, she has another blonde newport with a single crown inlay, I guess in addition to the Black one and the Cherry Red one, which I assume had that trapeze style tailpiece. Quote

I was thinking about the guitar and decided not to go for it. To me the value of artist association is when the instrument has been played live by the artist. In this case the artist plays mostly acoustics, and when in rare cases she plays electric it's her other Hamers. Looking at the great condition of the guitar it tells us it spent most of its time in a case, meaning it got very little use by the artist. 1 Quote
Feynman Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 I almost bought it last night, but someone beat me to it. Probably a good thing. 1 Quote

polara Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 That was a good price. I love my Newport Pro (came with Phat Cats, so even better for my particular band). KK? I saw her perform once: very impressive, even if not completely my thang. 3 Quote
