nosajwp Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I've used a few that weren't bad at all, but I know there are stories out there of certain Boss pedals causing a loss of tone when bypassed. Do you guys know which ones those are?Has anyone run into issues with the low impedance output of the pedals (when your guitar output is normally high impedance) into other pedals or your amp? Could this be a cause for tone loss, or is the tone loss mainly from the internal circuitry of certain pedals?
anotherfreak2 Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 The ones that say BOSS on them! ba-dam-ching!
hamersandstrats Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I happen to love certain Boss pedals, the OD-1, CE-2 and DM-2 (best delay ever) and the old SD-1s. However, there is always a loss of some highs when I put them in my signal path. This does not happen with my Fulltone, Maxon or Voodoo Labs pedals. With that said, I feel the need to buy one of the old Boss carrying cases and set up an all-Boss pedal board, just for old time sake!
Celtic_Bill Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 The TR-2 Tremolo is the worst for "tone sucking". I had mine modified by Robert Keeley, and I recommend his pedal modification services to anyone looking to improve their tone. He corrected the output drop as well as the loss of tone, and the pedal sounds freakin' FANTASTIC!
Hamer_SS_guy Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I don't like the Super Phaser PH-2. No matter where I put it in the signal chain, it seems to suck dynamics and volume.
riffpowers Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I think boss pedals are ok, but I think they've missed a real oppurtunity....if they did a "boss +"! range of slightly more expensive pedals that had the same features but decent bypass, it'd put the modders out of business cos everyone would buy them instead.
