Guest Buck Dharma Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Can someone tell me what year this Special I just picked up is and what pickups are in it? The serial number is 334283. Thank you for any info.
atquinn Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Yup, a '93. Don't know about the pickups though. Probably a JB in the bridge and a ?!? in the neck.-Austin
Guest Buck Dharma Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Thanks guys! I just found it in the serial database it says 1993 Special FM 59 Burst. I take back all I said about Guitar Center in the past because I like this one and it was a good deal.
will_rawlings Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 JB in the bridge and 59' in the neck. Great combo for a stellar guitar.
Mr Fuzzy Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 That one has been floating on ebay for a while with an opening bid of $700. they dropped to $600 in a new listing yesterday.I was tempted...Nice, I love special FM's Should be JB in the bridge and 59' in the neck. It is a 93Enjoy!
Guest Buck Dharma Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 I called the store and made them an offer! It was located at the store near me. I take back what I said about Guitar Center. They accepted and I went and picked it up. Its a great guitar but needs a setup. Very resonant if that's a word.
will_rawlings Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 WILL!!!!Good to see you here. YA FREAK!!!!! FINALLY got in! Cool board with cool topics. That's what I'm all about man. You never know what might pop up.
princeofdarkness56 Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Specials are so damn sweet. Beauty and functional simplicity all in one. Just made to rock.
Mr Fuzzy Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Very resonant if that's a word. Oh yeah its a word! A great word for a guitar. Nice top too. I bet the pics don't do it justice. res·o·nant Pronunciation Key (rz-nnt) adj. 1. a. Strong and deep in tone; resounding: a resonant voice. b. Having a lasting presence or effect; enduring c. Strongly reminiscent; evocative: a monument that is resonant of the nation's past glory. 2. Producing or exhibiting resonance: resonant frequency excitation. 3. Resulting from or as if from resonance: resonant amplification.
Guest Buck Dharma Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 I have to say I like the simplicity of this guitar better than the Studio Custom I had. It is lighter, sounds better, resonates more and feels better. If I ever get another it will be an old Sunburst with the older sustain bridge.
