kurtsstuff Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Well...In the time it is taking for my ADA MP-1 3TM modified preamps to make their way back to me, I have decided to go a different route and just plug into my recently aquired Rivera S-120 that I bought from a fellow HFC'r and I still can't remember who it was..?? lol! Anyways I should be getting these back in the next few day's from Hairston and thought I'd offer them up to my HFC brethren. $400.00 shipped in the lower 48. The price is about $40-45.00 cheaper than if you were to order one from Hairston, He sells them at $425.00 plus shipping, usually $15-20.00. I thought I'd get the ball rolling and see if there is any interest here as I won't be using them and believe me...they should be used..just ask Guitar George!!
Mobster Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 For the people that haven't played through an MP-1, these are spectacular preamps.I've owned the originals, and I hear the modded ones are really terrific. These are getting harder and harder to find out there...for somebody looking for a great programmable preamp, you should check these out.
kurtsstuff Posted April 13, 2005 Author Posted April 13, 2005 Thanks for the plug Mobster!...These modded Preamps really do kick butt...I'm going to keep one of them simply for the "Clean Tube" voicing..The 3TM (3 tube mod) turns that voicing into the biggest baddest Van Halen 1 Brown sound and with the right EQ settings..Dokken era Lynch..anyways...just one of them is for sale!

Hey gearheads, If you're into guitar rack systems, the ADA Depot 3TM modified MP-1 preamp is truly a weapon of mass destruction. I bought one of Kurtsstuff used 3TM mod MP-1 preamp after my MP-1 preamp was having problems. The dirty tube channels has a ton of usable gain, the clean tube is a lot more "brown" in it's tone, the solid state channel is like the Roland JC-120 (way cool for me) and the EQ is improved. Not only did the preamp have the 3TM mod, it also had new lithium battery for the memory, a Noise mod to reduce overall noise, and JJ Tesla high gain graded 12AX7 preamp tubes (110mu). For the asking price, the preamps with the ADA Depot modifications added is an absolute bargain. I really like this 3TM mod MP-1 preamp so much now that I'm using this in my large guitar rack setup with my Judas Priest tribute band, my '80 tribute and my Top 40 band. It kicks ass on my old stock MP-1 that I decided to send in my old MP-1 to ADA Depot to have all of the extra modifications and upgrades to 3TM specifications. I should have it by tomorrow. If you're into the ADA MP-1 MIDI tube preamps, check out kurtsstuff ADA Depot 3TM mod MP-1 preamp. You'll have killer tube overdrive a la Marshall , the slighlty overdriven tones similiar to a Fender, and a nice solid state clean channel like the Roland JC-120 for the price of one amp with the advantage of MIDI control at your feet. It's basically the Todd Langner from the early '90s with a lot of improvements made to it. The distorted tube has more gain, the clean tube is more "brown" in its sound and the solid state clean channel still sounds like a Roland JC-120. More of a really cool tone. I tried the digital modeling preamp for a couple of years with the Yamaha DG Stomp and a Mesa Boogie Dynawatt 20/20 tube power amp. Played alongside a real tube amp heads or combo, the tube combos or heads still sound the best to me. I've decided to put the Yamaha DG Stomp up for sale since I think the ADA kicks its butt all over the place, tone wise. Guitar George
