saxmanjack Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Makes sense -- the Hardtail and the other alder Daytona I had were both featherweights...Who owns that hardtail now? That was a great guitar, I should never have sold it.Wow, you sold it? I would have kept it (I hate trems), but couldn't get past the jumbo frets on it...
edgar_allan_poe Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Wow, you sold it? I would have kept it (I hate trems), but couldn't get past the jumbo frets on it. LOL! Yeah...I sold it to you ...dickhead. LOL!!! Who has it now?
cordroad Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 Why hasn't someone snapped this up? My Daytona is the envy of every Strat owner that plays it, and at this price this ones a steal. C'mon guys get off the dime!!! (Before I have to become a 2 Daytona family)Thanks, man.C'mon, somebody buy this. It's a damn good guitar with no playing issues. The bridge is gnarly but it functions as it should.
saxmanjack Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Wow, you sold it? I would have kept it (I hate trems), but couldn't get past the jumbo frets on it. LOL! Yeah...I sold it to you ...dickhead. LOL!!! Who has it now? I bought it from someone on the weber board , and I believe I sold it to YOU!
cordroad Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 Weekend bttt.C'mon people, yeah the bridge is ugly, but it works just fine.
PastorPaul Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I believe it's a nicer guitar than the description makes it sound. This one was likely owned by a sweaty player at one time, and the Wilkinson bridge design simply makes the oxidation a bit more evident. I literally took that bridge completely apart, oiled the parts, and reassembled it.As to the 'nasty' white parts, I may have them. The knobs were not only grimy, but had worn tops. The pickup covers were worn and grimy, too. I can't remember if I tossed them in the trash or the parts box, but I can check if someone really wants to know.
cordroad Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 Hi Paul, thanks for your comments. I'm a little surprised this hasn't sold by now.
cmatthes Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 The alder would (in general) be lighter than the ash, correct? That's Gear Page and HC nonsense. There's heavy ash, heavy alder, heavy Korina...People often speak in generalities, and I've found that you can't judge that way. I've got a featherweight '96 Daytona made of Alder and a light-to-medium weight '94 Alder Daytona. The heaviest two Hamers I've encountered (not talking basses here) were an ash T-51 and a Korina Standard - both had to be pushing 11-12 lbs.All that being said, if you're looking for a Strat-style guitar, the Daytona is a great way to go and you probably won't find anything cheaper than this one.
