peedenmark7 Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 chris, you gotta start somewhere better to be well equipped than searching ! I dont think I've ever seen an entire hamer in dayglo yellow. anyone ? I had a solid dayglo pink s.s. ,which met its end as i fell off a row of p.a. stacks back in early '85... also took out a robins egg blue s.s. sitting on a stand in the process... did have a solid dayglo orange proto2 with white p.g. [wish I still had that one even with the friggin kahler] it looked like a dreamsicle, man it played great, but stayed in tune for sh!t.
serial Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 BroChris HAS a dayglo yellow SS1. Matching reverse headstock, LED inlays, factory wireless, etc. VERY cool and I have the pleasure of babysitting it at the moment. I'm sure he can post pics. The only all-dayglo yellow one I've seen in person.

peedenmark7 Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 I guess I'll have to dig out my black ski mask and ninja suit for a midnight run . 'eh 'eh 'eh :)
Jimbilly Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I saw a dayglo yellow Chap, bolt-on, boomers, sustainiac about 8 years ago, fs for quite a while NOS for $600ish. They ended up selling it for $400 (about 6 years ago or so), -which is what I would have happily paid. It was NOS from Monte Vista guitar in S Tacoma after they went out of bus., and while it was NOS it had a huge amount of finish checking. So, that one's out there somewhere too.
peedenmark7 Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 dayglo finishes seem to be EXTRA prone to checking due to the overall thickness of the final finish... plus, if you aint playing it, better keep it in your case , because that finish is extremely phototropic ! the earliest examples especially, almost fade right before your very eyes ! I was doing repairs at hanzel music /milwaukee in '85 and a nice used pearl white proto2 with kahler and cracked dayglo [front of body only] came in. it hung in a weird spot near a window , apparently a hard sell to everyone but me at that time ..... so after sitting in that spot all winter, the orange especially and yellow faded to the point of looking a funky blueish color on one side. hamer did have a bunch of problems with these finishes early on, some guitars at cascio music turned a weird blue color in a few months under simple flourescents... everytime I went down to the factory in my late teens early 20's thats all I wanted to see was dayglo -dayglo and more dayglo !!! especially dayglo zulu. damn i wish I still had my dayglo zulu [6x matched head & entire body] kahlered blitz.... it was so striking to lok at and sounded great, just didnt stay in tune ! to this day I am smitten by this finish !!!! I remember both jol and paul laughing histerically everytime I came down to arlington asking first to see dayglo stuff, rather than to check the factory blow outs I was sent there for . I think they eventually hid the dayglo on me after a while... then it was checks checks and more checks....dots dots and more dots... hence, no -no and more no !!! I must have drove those 2 nuts... sadly jim allen was the poor s.o.b. who had to take me to lunch !!! during the spalted standard project, I mentioned to jol, that I would like another dayglo hamer..... I could almost seeing him shaking his head and possibly throwing his hands up in the air as he briefly chuckled and said no john ! pretty comical actually....
