holLoWskull Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Well, I'll try to sell this guitar again. Great guitar, and I'm honestly puzzled it didn't sell for what I was asking before based on condition and rarity of color, but ebay has gotten enough of my money in listing fees...so here you have it at a reduced price: $750 shipped/insured in the CONUS! Paypal is OK if you don't mind adding the extra 3% to the total cost. I won't bore everyone with the specifics as it's been for sale here twice and on ebay twice without selling so here's the general lowdown: 1995 Special FM in rare transparent violet finish. REFINISHED BY HAMER in 2004 as the original finish was in bad shape. Medium neck a tad on the skinnier side of medium though. SD 59'/JB pickups. Fantastic condition...no fretwear at all. Guitar needs nothing and plays great. Will ship with a non-Hamer TKL made case in excellent shape (not one pictured).
holLoWskull Posted October 19, 2006 Author Posted October 19, 2006 BUMP w/ final price lowering. $700 US + actual shipping. I'm in the Northeast USA so depending on your distance from Upstate NY shipping will run approx. $15 - $25 to CONUS addresses East of the Mississippi; $25 - $35 to CONUS addresses West of the Mississippi. If using Paypal, please add the 3% to the total price. The question was asked a few threads ago...what can I get for $700? Well, if you want to pay in money order, bank check, or cash and you want to pick the guitar up locally in the Albany, NY area...here you go! No dissapointments with this one...easily a 9.5/10 if not higher (I'd grade it a 9.8/10, but just so no one could possibly be dissapointed I'll say 9.5). I've done several mutually pleasant selling deals with other HFC members and have perfect buying and selling ebay feedback if you need references, I guess I just don't post an awful lot here for the amount of years I've been a HFC member. After reading Badger's ebay story in a previous thread, I'd rather offer this guitar up here for less money knowing (1) no B.S. and (2) the guitar's going to a good home. Note: the guitar's finish is a hard color to capture exactly. With the camera flash on, the guitar looks more red than it really is. In normal living room light the guitar is actually a deeper purple color...it's only more red in direct sunlight and with a camera flash on it. I've got to get the herd down to 10 guitars, but for what $$ I've got into this guitar I honestly can't justify going any lower than this price...so no trades and no other offers please.
holLoWskull Posted October 21, 2006 Author Posted October 21, 2006 <bump> Bump for the weekend crowd with a couple more pix..one of the guitar and one of the case that it'll be shipped in. I'll give it until the end of the weekend here before trying other places. Maybe I missed something, but $700 seems pretty darn cheap for a USA made Special FM in the condition this one is in. Something tells me a dealer would price it in excess of $900, but anyway, hope the guitar finds it's way into the hands of an HFC'er that will show it some love. This guitar has been lingering around for sale on this forum for far too long and this is the final bump before the thread dissapears off into the sunset for good, so the price ain't going any lower in case any of you are waiting around for it to hit $350
hamerhead Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I gotta bump this. It is a sweet looking guitar that should have been picked up already. It would be mine if I wasn't married.
holLoWskull Posted October 22, 2006 Author Posted October 22, 2006 Thanks for the bump hamerhead, but fortunately after numerous posts and price drops it's no longer necessary. The purple Special FM that has stuck around on the forum for too many months is SOLD pending payment to an HFC'er who can make themselves known if and when they choose.
Caddie Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 What's with the Epi case? Are they having some kind of promo? "Buy an Epi & get a second case FREE!!!"THAT oughta move some inventory.....noonan
Caddie Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Hey holLo, you shoulda hired Travis to take photos of your Purple Special FM. He does exceptional photo work. Go take a peek at his Special HB ForSale thread. He posted new photos. Stunning. If you had similar quality photos of your purple Special FM it would have sold loooonnnnnnng ago. Your buyer must be the type who is willing to take wild & risky leaps of faith. noonan
Travis Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I don't know how to take that. The pics I shot of the Special were not my best, by far. But, it's dark outside and my house has horrible natural light. So, I let the lamp be my friend. BTW, that Special FM is sweet. I liked that color a lot. However, my wife did not. And I made the mistake of asking her what she thought.
Caddie Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Seriously Travis, your photos were great! The grain of the wood comes thru nicely, even the few blems come thru. IMHO, your photos give the buyer a true feel of what they will see in their own home when they open the case. BadgerDave was always able to capture that feeling when he would photograph them on his granite countertop with the sunlight coming thru the windows.Seriously, a very nice photo job Travis.noonan
