currypowder Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 I know that most of you probably frequent The Gear Page and these are posted there, but I thought I would post them over here as well. Both of these guitars were acquired recently but are too close to other guitars I own to keep. First up is a 2002 Gibson R8 Flametop. Very nice flametop that pictures don't do justice. Installed Wolfetone Dr. Vintage double cream pickups (original pickups included). Plays and sounds great. I took this in on trade and have been AB'ing it with another LP. Both sound phenomenal, but I prefer the other, so this one is on the market. A previous owner replaced the neck tone pot with a push pull (although it is not wired to coil tap). The original pot is included. Includes OHSC, COA and all case candy. $3,200 shipped. Next up is a 2006 RS Guitarworks Pine Esquire Relic. The body is made from 200 year old heart pine and this guitar is as light as any guitar I've ever played. This is one of three made (#3) with a serial number of OFP-3. Here are the specs: Pickups - Lindy Fralin Fat Broadcaster 3 way pickup selector with CTS master volume, master tone, Hovland Guitarcap Vintage Tele style bridge Black Nitro Finish One piece maple neck, Fat U shape 1 11/16 nut width 10" radius 610 frets This one is reliced as nice as any I've ever seen. It has incredible tone. But again, I've been AB'ing it with my Revelator, and the tone and feel is just too close to keep both. And the neck on this one is a little large for me. There is one small issue, the 3 way switch does not engage both pickups in the middle position. I'm not sure if the switch is malfunctioning or has been wired this way. In any case, it's easily rectified if wanted. I've owned several relics, and this one is very nicely done. None of the belt sanding or hit with a screwdriver look. Nice checking. Includes OHSC and RS paperwork. $1,600 shipped.
Jack C Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Paging David E's cheap ass. That's a beautiful R8.
DEMENTED Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 If I had the cha-ching both of those would be mine..
DavidE Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Paging David E's cheap ass. That's a beautiful R8. Sorry Jack, but there's no effing way I'm putting over $3k into a Les Paul. That one is beautiful, but it's not a color I'd choose to own.
