Do you guys like these? It seams they are making them like the old ones again. Big transformers, 6 Caps, flying leads, etc. Without being modded, and a good distortion pedal, can these things do speed metal and heavy metal? I like the fact that I am hearing great reveiws about the newer ones and the good changes to them and that they are very loud and take pedals well. Opinions please. Thanks-Jack.

Thanks fellas. Is that a 2204? I am kinda leading towards 100 watts. Not as much more loud, but for the low end. I have owned both 50`s and 100`s and you can hear the difference in that department. I know one thing for sure, the new 2203`s are kinda pricey!! Jack.

I did some rehearsals with one of the newer ones and buried the entire band including the bass player complete with 70's Ampeg SVT. Sound great and the loudest amp I ever heard!

That is what I wanted to hear man!! I think I will hunt a new one down and take my Boss MT-2 pedal along and see what doing. Kurt, what model is yours and year? Jack.

oh yeah...I had a couple of the JCM 800 reissues and well...if you don't buy mine then at least get a real JCM800 and make sure it's got vertical inputs...These JMP's are the same thing with older cosmetics..

It's been my experience that the "older" JMP 2203, as pictured above, sound better slammed with your overdrive of choice vs. a JCM 800 2203,( a little more low end and not as thin on top). I currently run a Keeley modded BOSS SD-1 in front of my '78 JMP and think it sounds better than the Soldano SLP 100 I used to own. As always, opinions may vary.

BTW Jack, I've tried a Metal Zone with my set-up and it pulled off the "Slayer" thing quite well; which is probobally what you're after.

I love these amps. They have THE sound. But I actually prefer the 2204 - (50 watters) as they are a little looser and more groovy to my ears. Easier to get a Warren De Martini type of sound, if that is what you're after.

And if you want the tighter low end of a 100 Watter you can plug in two JJ KT88's. That will give a little more headrom and a great tightness. Jon Norum from Europe runs his 2205's this way. Sounds great.
