WTB Hamer Special

Hi

A little short story first

I once went into a guitar shop and tried a 1997 Hamer Eclipse (unfortunately I couldn't afford it). Until today I think is the guitar with the most confortable neck I have ever played.

As the subject of this thread says I am looking for a Hamer Special with P90's (I just love those pickups).

I have done some research on this site and apparently I may need to find a late '90s Hamer Special to get a fatter neck Special, right?

Then, two questions.

1- Will this guitar have a neck as nice as the one on the eclipse?

2- Anyone has a fat neck Hamer Special for sale?

Any help/suggestions/guidance is very welcome. And if you are willing to sell a guitar as described above please don't hesitate to contact me!

Most early 90's specials have thinner necks. i had one and sold it for that reason. However, DavidE has one for sale here on the board with a fatter neck that might fit the bill. I don't know how it would compare to an eclipse, though.

And you will have no problems dealing with David, he is definitely one of the good guys.

A 94 or 95 ought to fit the bill for you. My '95 is very similar to my Eclipse neck-wise

I will do as you say and try to buy a 94-95 Special. I have also contacted DavidE who is very nice indeed.

Hopefully I will find what I am looking for !!! Anyone else ???

Buy the Eclipse. I love my Eclipse. The Firebird pickups can get most of the same tones as P90's. If you find you don't like the firebird pickups, you can always switch them to P90's without having to rout out the guitar. The neck on my Eclipse feels perfect to me as well. The Eclipse is the most under rated Hamer of all time in my opinion.

Thanks straightblues, that's a very good idea!

So you are saying that I can replace the mini humbuckers in the eclipse with P90s without making any "hole" in the body ???

I have a '94 for sale. Good price and you could put Phatcats in it and theres your P90s. Actually thats the way Brooks had it set up when I bought it.

You need a Korina Special Jr. They have fat necks & a P-90.

Do the original Specials and the Korina models sound the same? I mean putting aside the fact that it only has 1 P90...
