sirskelt Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Looking for a fairly inexpensive 7 string to knock around rehearsals and some studio work, not planning on gigging with it much unless it really chrunches. It's mainly to keep me from having to tune my diablo to standard B so I can use it as a backup in standard D. No backup for my Monaco in standard E (yet!?!?!?). Advice is appreciated! Ideas? comments? concerns? constipation? (maybe the bowel lossening low tones of a 7 stringer will help me with that last one!).
sirskelt Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Trem?Hardtail?call me on Mon319-665-6500sorry I was away yesterday. No trem necessary, hardtail is fine. I'll try to call later today if I get out of work at a reasonable time. Thanks!!
Jeff R Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I believe Fernandes/Fernandez (sp) makes a seven-string version of their Revolver super-strat-style, and the six string ones are incredibly cheap and great-bang-for-buck used on eBay.I picked up one of the six string Sustainer models a few years ago to beat around on. Great guitar for the money, stock electronics were much nicer than I would have imagined and I was impressed that it had an alder body - not common for imports in that price range.
sirskelt Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Washburn WG-587 gets good user reviews on Harmony-Central and are very very cheap on eBay brand new. Anyone heard or played one of these?
hrtatak Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I am a lefty; but I have a LTD H-207. I like it a lot more than my custom built Harper that is a copy of an Ibanez Universe. The LTD was WAY cheaper to buy. There is something about the neck on the Harper that I just haven't got used to yet. After playing on the 7 for about 45 minutes; I switch to a 6 and can just fly around the fretboard since the neck seems so small.
kurtsstuff Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I have 3-4 Ibanez hardtails laying around at the shop . I'll find out tomorrow when I go inwhat I can throw one your way for . Black RG 7 sumthing....hehe. probably the $300.00-$350.00 range plus shipping but I want to move them so...might do a little better on them.
guitarzandstuff Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I actually had a Squire Stagemaster 7 string I got at the Philly show for $150... It really was not a bad guitar at all!

Between the cheapo washburns on eBay and local pawn shops I won't be spending more than 200 on one, let me know if you have anything in that range. Plus I owe Uncle Sam big bucks this year so there goes my wishes for a really nice 7 stringer
