harry65 Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 hey hamer jammers, hope all is well, i need something WARM AND TIGHT(hmm, sounds tasty) to kick it up a notch for solo's, want a vintage ts808 or chandler or butler tube driver(with bias switch), what i have is an original sans amp,one of the first ones made, imo the greatest distortion unit ever, i have two so i'll part with one, also a mxr dyna comp, a line 6 pod, a fat cat pedal, pickups(duncan 59er and jb), and lots more, i'm a little tapped at the moment so i'd prefer straight trades but might be able to dig up a little green for the right deal, let me know what you got and we'll take it from there, thanks and god bless you all, harry, 561-602-0880
Zoner Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Might I humbly suggest an Ibanez TK999US Tube King? Made by Tubeworks and BK Butler designed. I had an original Tube Driver that was made by BK's own hand when they were first introduced and a later version from Chandler, but never saw one with a bias switch. Is that from a newer incarnation? The Ibanez TK999 is very warm and also quite tight IMHO. Z
hamersandstrats Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Harry,I have a TC Jauerning DGTM, which is based on the tubescreamer, but its built much better and has 2 modes-one vintage and one modern, more compressed. I'm also in Fl, PM me if you're interested.

Zthanks for the heads up dude, gonna definitely look into the tube king, yeah the tube driver now comes with an optional bias switch, supposedly it's the cat's meow, to be honest i was just plating my amp and tried something i've never tried and just used my maxon compressor for solo's, sustain at 9:00,level at 2:00, man it sounded friggin killer, i think i may have nailed my sound, never occured to me and i was talking to a dude at the amp shop today and he suggested it, dusted off the maxon and WHAM, did the trick, still would like something else to mess around with anyway, be cool..............http://www.butleraudio.com/tubedriver.phpsell your pedals and get the real deal...i tried one like twenty years ago when they came out, i think satriani was one of the first endorsers, didn't do it for me then but i have a feeling i'd flip for it now, of course back then it was probably 1/3 the price they are now,lol , when's someone gonna come up with a time machine, i'd like to go back to about 65 and grab 4 or 5 plexi's...................
Brooks Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 just used my maxon compressor for solo's, sustain at 9:00,level at 2:00, man it sounded friggin killer, i think i may have nailed my sound, never occured to me i have been using a comp for solo boost for ~25 years, ever since i found an ibanez at a flea market when i was 15.current fave is the little green GUYATONE, it has a DIRECT switch that mixes in the un-comp'd signal for a real natural tone, distorted or clean.
geoff_hartwell Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 HOLY CRAP!Thanks for the tip on the new Tube Driver. Now I have to get one!
