saxmanjack Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 http://www.wwbw.com/G-L-ASAT-Special----So...)-i754797.musicThe list price quoted seems to indicate that it has some upcharge options. I'd take a gamble on it if I wasn't in the middle of relocation...
Steve Haynie Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 "B stock"? The term escapes me at the moment. Is this a scratch and dent sale?
saxmanjack Posted August 21, 2007 Author Posted August 21, 2007 Yeah, probably a return or display in less than mint condition...
Dumo Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 That looks good to me. Just make sure they don't keep the hardshell case. The only guitar I ever regret selling was a trans orange semi-hollow no f-hole ASAT classic Session. Super versatile and looked killer. Kind of rare too.
Bluesking Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Dumo - I know where that ASAT still resides if you're interested in getting it back.

I'd take a gamble on it if I wasn't in the middle of relocation... The price is good, but I'd want a lot more detail (body wood, etc.) before I plunked down money. It looks like a regular ASAT... maybe an upcharge on the fingerboard? Buffalo Brothers in California pins the MSRP for these in the $2000 range. 'Course, they're a volume dealer, too. I just love ASATs. I bought my second one last Sunday...
killerteddybear Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I just checked Buffalo Brothers' website on ASAT upgrades. Ebony fingerboard = $50 Glossy neck finish = $160 Ash Body = $100 (alder is standard) Black Pickguard = $50 (white is standard) Saddle Lock Bridge = $60That's over $400 right there.Plus, another $50 if it has a spec'd neck (G&L offer 4 sizes)Makes $799 look like a better deal all the time.p.s. I am in NO way affiliated with G&L or Buffalo Brothers, if this was sounding close to a plug...But I am a huge ASAT fan.
saxmanjack Posted August 22, 2007 Author Posted August 22, 2007 I called about it, and the guy didn't have (and couldn't/wouldn't get) any details on it. Several years ago I bought a clearance ASAT Classic from them for $599, and it had gloss birdseye neck, ebony board, and double-bound body...
Jamie K Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I called about it, and the guy didn't have (and couldn't/wouldn't get) any details on it. If they won't provide details on what those flaws are, then $800 is a lot to put forward to find out on your own. The only obvious upgrade (from the description) is the tinted gun oil neck. That photo looks like a stock image, not necessarily the actual item.
elduave Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Um, if anyone needs G&L stuff, let me know. I'm ready to blow out the stuff on the wall and get jiggy with some store stock custom jobs!
