Scooter Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I just bought a brand new 1960 Marshall top cab for $650. I removed 2 of the GT75's and replaced them with Vintage 30 clones in an X pattern (ala Bogner Uberkab). It sounds much warmer now.It is as good as new with ZERO flaws.Anyway, some financial crap came up requiring me to part with some things, and since the 4X12 was the last to come in, it goes first.Make me an offer. I'll take a loss if I can move it quickly. I'm in the Southeast corner of Wisconsin. I can drive a reasonable distance to help deliver.PM or email me.-Don
MCChris Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I removed 2 of the GT75's and replaced them with Vintage 30 clones in an X pattern (ala Bogner Uberkab). It sounds much warmer now.I did the exact same mix in a 4x12 that I later sold to a friend. Very cool combination of speakers.Good luck with the sale!
Scooter Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 The speakers I used were the "Warehouse Speakers" V30's, and boy are they nice!

ZR Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 That's what my Zinky 2x12" has; one of each (except they're real cork-sniffer-approved UK Celestions!!). Works great!
DavidE Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Now, when you do a mix like that, which do you mic???
Scooter Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Now, when you do a mix like that, which do you mic???I still think the V30 mics better than the GT75. For some reason, the accentuated mids of a V30 are captured better than the scooped mids of the GT.
edgar_allan_poe Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Now, when you do a mix like that, which do you mic???In all honesty, I have never noticed a difference. My amp is used as a monitor, so I never hear what is out front. They aren't different enough that the average audience would notice.
