  1. Soundslike he's more worried about flipping it for a profit than playing it... If the reverb circuit is like most amps, you could just tell him to plug in a new tank. In fact, you could be a nice guy and send him one. They're cheap on eBay. or Get the amp back and give him his money back.
  2. +1 on the headstock argument. (Which is supported by the fact that Standards and Cali's, etc. consistently fetch a higher price.)
  3. The guitar player in my cover band has an AxeFX. It really is an amazing unit. The sounds are drop-dead awesome! BUT...he still lugs a lot of gear. The AxeFX is in a rack with a few other items. Then there's the head he uses for power (a Guytron) and a Mesa cab. Plus a giant control pedal board. Now, he's trying to program it to be a stand-alone piece to run through the PA, but he programs it at home and then it sounds WAY different when it's actually running through the PA. All in all, the AxeFX is amazing, but it requires a lot of time to get "right".
  4. Hey! I had that same guitar (in 2 hum). The walnut pancake body was super dark sounding to my ears. Great 70's album-rock guitar!
  5. For a new band, I kinda like 5 Finger Death Punch. A little commercial, but good.
  6. Imports, no doubt.
  7. This may be the bumpiest thread of all time. Oh, and here's a free bump.
  8. Did I see one of these atop Andy's rig at the Police concert?
  9. There were tons of songs/bands that I dug tone-wise, but the first guitar "sound" that dropped my jaw was Accept (Wolf). I still can't listen to Balls to the Wall without inducing neck pain.
  10. Oooh. That looks like a one-piece top!
  11. LOVE the Evel Knievel Charvel!!
  12. I have a white Greco LP Custom from about 1990 that was my "number 1" for the last several years. Only recently has it been replaced. (It will probably end up on eBay any day now.) Anyway, they are fantastic guitars at ANY price - thankfully they're still rather affordable. Nice grab!
  13. DavidE: Looks to me that you were taking the high road in your emails. It almost sounds like all you were asking was for him to admit he understated the condition. You never even asked for a refund or anything!
  14. Scooter: how is age relevant to condition? A 25 year old guitar can be mint and a 2 month old guitar can be dinged and dented down to good or poor condition. The age of the guitar is irrelevant to grading the condition. Let me explain my rationale. I guess I look at guitars in two categories: players & collectors. This one is a player, and as such, 11 years of use would result in several nicks and dings. As long as it presents well and plays perfect, it would rate VG or VG+ in my opinion. A collector piece would have to remain in tip-top shape no matter the age if it were to rate EC. Of course, the pricing would be VERY different between the two categories. I hope that makes sense.
  15. For an 11 year old guitar, the condition looks VG+.
  16. Nice score. Looks like a lot of guitar for the money!
  17. Is the pickguard wrong?
  18. I've got a pair of the V30's. They're every bit as good as they claim!
  19. That IS cool. Now they need to make a self-playing guitar (for me).
