Craig S Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I have a guy who has a 1x12 6l6 based version who is interested in trading for my Trace Elliot H-100 head. As I'm not particularly interested in the Mesa(have a H&K Switchblade) I might consider it if I could flip for a profit... What are these going for these days? Do they sound good?
iownit4 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 they go for 700-850 used , They sound great heavy ,clean channel is good two ,solo button is the best thing about the amp ....I don't have a switchblade so I can't compare ,but I played my friends switchblade and the boogie sounded better to me ,no effects excepted reverb ,the H&K stock speaker is awful ,,just my taste ..I have a few H7K amps tube 50 1x12 combo's those sound very close to the rectoverb....rob
Mindseyes Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 If you dont dig it would you consider trading for a Mesa Nomad 55 1X12combo super clean?
Craig S Posted January 4, 2008 Author Posted January 4, 2008 If you dont dig it would you consider trading for a Mesa Nomad 55 1X12combo super clean?Probably not because I either will not do the trade with my Trace(makes sense finacially however) or I'll just sell it. I don't want to be in a constant mode of trade... so far I've have to meet a Mesa I like.
Guest Mike Lee Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 The Rect-o-Verb lead channel set to vintage mode is a great tone - one of the best in a high gain combo. I liked the original Rect-o-Verbs with the rear panel reverb controls. But the newer version with the RAW mode on the lead channel and the front panel reverb controls doesn't sound as good to me.I thought about getting one for a long time, but they are damn heavy.

Amps that went head to head were Trace Elliot H-100 Speed Twin though an Avatar 2x12 cab with a Eminence Governor/Wizard combination, The Mesa Rect o Verb and my H & K Switchblade 50 watter.. Test guitar was my 93' FM. The comparsion betweent the Mesa and Trace were pretty much do you like Mesa's or Marshall's? similar features both sounded good, The Trace maybe had a better clean tone. the Mesa vs. the Switchblade was interesting hense the quote above. With my setting the H & K's cleans obliterated the Mesa, much more sparkle and life. In crunch mode the H&K was just flat out more agressive sounding. High gain mode would probably have to go to the Mesa, huge and smooth sounding. I probably could get the Switchblade there but the Mesa was pretty much an instant dial up.

Craig S Posted January 5, 2008 Author Posted January 5, 2008 Dave, I'll pull something together or stop by and give it a listen and see if you like what I have. I thought about getting one for a long time, but they are damn heavy.Definately gives my 68' Twin Reverb a run for it's money which is kind of not the point for my needs. The Trace head and cab are easier to deal with.
