FunkyE9th Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I just got my new Blackheart Little Giant Half Stack a couple of days ago. I took the chassis out of the head coz I wanted to do some tube tasting, measure the bias, and do some comparison with the Valve Jr. Well I was playing through it this morning and forgot I was using a 10' cord instead of 20'. I started walking away from the amp to put the guitar back on the stand and then I heard a big thud. The amp hit the floor broke the power switch and took a chunk out of my floor. The part shouldn't cost that much. It just pisses me off that I screwed up an amp 2 days after I got it. Some times I just do some really stupid things... -FunkyE9th
tomteriffic Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Look at the bright side, Ferdie. It didn't have a headstock to break and have fixed, even though the break would have trashed the value and a good repair would be hideously expensive.Sux though. I did the "short cord causes disaster, pictures at 11" thing plenty of times.
Thundernotes Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 That's one of the most common amp repairs - make sure you have the input jack checked out. Quite often, the solder connections on the jack will break during such an event.
Steve Haynie Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 As long as the power switch broke off in the "ON" position you will be all right.
FunkyE9th Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Amp is back up running for $4.39!!! I am so happy there is a local electronic shop by me. BTW, for you guys in the Chicago area needing electronic parts without having to go mail order, check out tselectronic.com -FunkyE9th
