JGale Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 OK. We've all heard of the term, "Buyer's Remorse." Well, I'm having "Seller's/Trader's Remorse." In other words, "Snooze you loose ." I'm keeping my Artist. I've been playing her this morning getting ready for tonight's set and I've decided to keep her... unless you have a solid body Hamer you would like to trade. Other than that, I'm staying in the Hamer Family . Thanks, Jim Heh. Been there, done that. You did wisely. After the fact want is horrible.

I do want to stay in the Hamer family. The more I play this guitar the more I realize the level of quality and expertise that goes into Hamers. I do however, want a solid body. So I may post it as a trade option for a Studio or Monaco. In the meantime I'll continue to play and enjoy it.

I'm sure it is a Tone difference and I'd like to hear your thoughts on those differences. Ted

The semis tend to feed back more in that setting. I have several solid body guitars that are just fine in that application. I love the guitar and given other venues and environments she's a dream. Tonally speaking, I have to say, I don't hear a drastic difference between the semi and my solid body mahogany guitars. If anything the semi has a more expansive sound texture than a solid. At the end of the day and having said all of that, I just prefer a sold-body because I like the over all feel and weight of a solid. I'm not one to complain about the weight of a guitar, I like them heavy and solid. BTW. I looked at you sight... I like the look of those Ocean Burst Hamers at $529. I'm assuming they are imports. How is the QC on those imports? I might consider one of those. Jim

Jim, You might want to try some potted pups. I'm pretty sure the Seth Lovers are unpotted. I didn't have too much issue with feedback when i had them in, but a couple of folks that played my rig had a buggar of a time with feedback... I personally love the ability to turn the guitar just a tad back to the amp and let the note howl a bit... But the Howard Roberts is better at that than the Artist...

I have to tell you, I love the tone of the Seth Lovers, I'm not familiar enough with PUP dynamics to really understand potted vs. unpotted. The issue is not out of control by any means, but on those nights when we run a hot stage mix I just have to be more aware of positioning. Thanks for the insight.
