stonge Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 for those of us not lucky enough to get the Hartford Courant, here's a brief article about Guild coming to New Hartford: http://www.courant.com/business/hc-fender0...0,1876444.story And if you get stuck in Bradley airport, at least you have a few FMIC products to look at now
mirrorimij Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Cool article. I have to wonder why the state of Connecticut would need/want to commit funds to Fender. I would think they could fend for themselves. I didn't think the Guild project was going to create many new jobs. My understanding of it was that some Ovation workers were going to be re-assigned.
cmatthes Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Cool article, Stonge! Thanks for sharing - I seem to be in Bradley more than most other airports for some reason, so hope to check those out.
kizanski Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 What happened, Matthes? They didn't get a copy to you to post?

Not to get too political about it, but given the current cost of doing business in Connecticut it would almost be negligent of a company to not seek tax breaks or other incentives from the state (whether or not they actually planned to leave). I'm sure Fender needed the help At least when I pay my taxes, I can be thankful that in some small way I helped keep Hamer, Ovation, and Guild local. Now about the CT Taxpayer discount lol...
BLuesBuster Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Before the Fender re-org, Guild used to be located in Westerly, Rhode Island. The brand is coming back to New England, is this karma at work?... duh... it says it in the article, should have read that first
