Bennyboy-UK Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-USA-Eclipse-1995...1QQcmdZViewItem Seems a bit overpriced to me. Must be that curly mahogany, I loved the desription! It's like someone emptied a box of "guitar description words" on to their PC - Your right that Curly Mahogany is amazing - almost completely featureless, with amazing straight grain.....!! (Really hope it isn't an HFCers - or I'll be for it! - sorry for being cheeky if it is!) Nice Jr/Special in any case, I'm sure you would agree. Cheers, Ben.
Feynman Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Were the Eclipses made with male or female wood?http://cgi.ebay.com/RODRIGUEZ-STRADIVARI-M...%3A1%7C294%3A50
Bennyboy-UK Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Were the Eclipses made with male or female wood? http://cgi.ebay.com/RODRIGUEZ-STRADIVARI-M...%3A1%7C294%3A50 Hmmmmm, very good question - its one of those make or break criteria for most of us, I'm sure. I can't answer that one for the eclipse - I would have thought that female timber guitars would be quite snappy and unforgiving - tone and playablitiy wide, and be adversely affected by the presence or proximity of a similar example with better figuring or slicker action, than the equivilant male timber guitar. Can't say for sure, but its a question that we should ALL defiantely be asking - I mean, would you want to make a wrong decision on guitar buying if you ended up with the wrong gender guitar for your particular style? I think that the manufacturers should be forced to stipulate this on spec sheets, so we can be fully informed. Cheers, Ben

Born between Moe & Shemp, his scenes mysteriously always ended up on the cutting toom floor. caddie
