Anybody use a Probag Gig Bag?

I'm thinking about getting one of their double bags since I always seem to find the Incase Dub Bags for sale seconds after someone else buys them.....

I got a Fender double bag from MF for $50. Lots of outside pockets and well constructed.

There are lots of double bags available, but most of them just aren't that protective. If I'm carrying a $2,000 or $4,000 guitar in a gig bag, it had better be really good. I have lots of TKL Gibson style gig bags that are just ok. I've never seen a Fender gig bag that I thought was good enough. I have a Fender hybrid case (hard foam and nylon exterior) that I like a lot but I've never seen another and it won't fit my PRS guitars. I have two Levy's gig bags for Hamers and LPs' that are quite good but were originally around $130 6 years ago (I got lucky and found them on clearance), but they won't work with PRS or Fender guitars. I have a Levys leather that I scored for $30 at a Music Go Round and it's great, but very expensive new.

The mono cases seem good, but I've read that the straps aren't that strong and there's something about the foam that isn't quite as good as the Incase.

So far I'm hearing only good things about the Probags and they're reasonably priced to boot.

I use one of THESE for my Daytonas. They're pretty decent. Maybe not enough padding in between, though.

But then, I wouldn't put two $4000 guitars in a $40 bag, either.

So far no complaints with the Fender bag. I never use the shoulder straps on a gig bag. I don't trust them to be behind my back and out of sight. I had one single bag years ago that the strap came apart on. Since then I just take the straps off and use the handle. I'm carrying my Clapton Strat and whatever other guitar I gig with in the Fender bag. So far no scratches or dings from being in the bag.

Hey DavidE,

I've been looking at the Pro Bag leather double electric guitar bags for quite awhile now. I think they're well built and affordably priced compared to Levy's when I visisted the Pro Bag booth 2 years ago at the Winter NAMM. Less than $200 for a well built, leather double electric guitar bag definitely pushes my button.

I've had a Pro Tec double bag for several years with no issues at all. It protects well and has held up over alot of gigs.

Highly recommended.

I didn't go with a double bag, but I got a monocase and now an Incase Slim Bag. I traded for the monocase and frankly, I was a little disappointed with it. It seems well designed and all that, but I expected it to be more firm on the sides and generally offer more protection. Maybe it's sufficient, but I had my doubts.

I then bought an Incase Slimbag (single) on TGP and I think it's awesome. It's what I expected the monocase to be. I'm confident that I can put a $4,000 guitar in there and not worry about it. I sold the monocase.

Hey DavidE,

I just bought the Pro Bag leather double electric guitar gig bag a couple of weeks ago. My Pro Bag leather double electric guitar gig bag is brown leather and I got it from Golden Age Fretted Instruments:

I paid $175.00 plus shipping for mine. One of the best investments I bought for my electric guitars, especially if you gig a lot. They're a lot more affordable than either Levy's or Reunion Blues. I'm very happy with my purchase!!
