tomteriffic Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 The new TV GUIDE came in the mail today so I was able to determine who he was; didn't know before that perusal. "American Idol", as well as "America's Got Talent", is simply "Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour" w/ fireworks and confetti. Actually, I didn't know who he was either....
unfun75 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 He's too over-the-top half of the time, but when he's on, he's fuckin' on. I thought his "Whole Lotta Love" and "Cryin'" were killer. Dude has vocal skills but needs to tone down the gayness a notch. We get it, you're gay, just sing.

Oh yeah, and this guy from Hoboken named Frank Sinatra. It's been done before--all the way back to the radio era--but it's still effective.

Maybe I'm wrong, but to me the kid is head and shoulders talent-wise above the rest of the ones left in the competition. I grew up in the 80's and am a huge Dream Theater, Queensryche, Fates Warning, Symphony X, etc. fan today...so I have no problem listening to dudes who can belt out the high notes. Alot of people here are ripping on him, but remember he's singing totally live and his pitch is near flawless even doing some of the crazy note changes he does (listen to the vocals on some live bootlegs from Led Zep or some of the other bands mentioned in the thread...ugh!). The kid totally gives off the flamer vibe, but damn I wish I had 1/4 his vocal talent.
