m chops Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I've got a 2000 Newport pro in Jazzburst. Purchased new from BCR Greg on my way back from the shore one year. It had a rattle-ly selector switch which was replaced at the factory under warranty. Not being fond of humbuckers, I replaced the Seth's with Phat Cats. The leads to the neck pickup was short, so some red and green hookup wire is visible through the lower f-hole. One tiny ding in the clear coat, about an inch from the bass side of the tail piece. I think it may have gotten knocked with the tip of a guitar cord. It is otherwise in excellent shape. When I bought it, Greg had 2 in the shop. He suggested that this one was the better of the two, and I have no reason to doubt his word. The jazzburst was very yellow when I bought it, but has aged to a beautiful amber. The case is in ok shape, with some wear on the hinged side of the top near where the upper bout would be. I am thinking $1250 cash price, shipped to the continental US. Paypal - please gross up by 3%. Funny - each time I think about selling a guitar, I get sad - even if I don't play the blinkin' thing. PM me, or better, email me at bfarah at riverlaw dot com
HamerHokie Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 You didn't bond with it tone-wise, or feel, or what? As I've stated many times, the Phat Cats didn't do it for me in this particular guitar, but there might be other single coils that would work better for you.
m chops Posted June 15, 2009 Author Posted June 15, 2009 Clearly, I liked the sound of the Phat Cats better than the Seths, but it didn't sound or feel right. I remember you went through a few pickups a few (probably several now) years back.Yet I bought a tele - a T-51 on a lark. Didn't expect to like it. Now a tele style is my guitar of choice.
guitarzandstuff Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Awesome candidate for a Stike Sparkle refin!!
