Advice needed for blown amp fuse

While I was playing my Rivera combo today the tubes crackled a few times and the volume went down, then down more and then the amp went silent. I saw a tiny bit of smoke. After the amp cooled off I checked it out and saw that the HT fuse was blown. My question is whether I simply need to replace the fuse or whether I need to take the amp in to my local amp tech to see what caused the fuse to blow in the first place. Any thoughts are appreciated. (I'm leaning towards having the amp checked out.)

An HT fuse is typically in the "B+ rail" or high voltage DC to the tubes. Chances are one of them shorted out. You should get the tubes tested for shorts. Have it checked out by a competent amp tech.

Just a bad tube. The tech had it back to me the next day.

A bad tube usually takes out the screen grid resistor as well so...hopefully

the tech replaced it as well??

Thanks for the heads up on the screen grid resistors. I called my amp tech (who I have known and trusted for many years) and he said that a blown tube often does take out the screen grid resistor and that he checked everything before sending the amp back to me. This is the kind of thing I would worry about if I did not have a long connection to the person who I use for amp repairs.
