Hey thanx mate I'll check that out. Not sure how comfortable I would be buying a guitar unseen etc., but it's not out of the question...That one I'm looking at is local, going to see it Friday. The guy had a gorgeous blue Daytona with matching headstock that I wanted but missed it by a day. I'll try to talk the price down a bit but I guess 700 is not a bad price for a superb instrument that can only be getting scarcer.

By all means consider me a nobody, but I haven't seen all too many Seafoam ones (a couple here on the forums that I know of, but it seems to be fairly uncommon).

Some Daytonas have been selling for less than that lately (though it's not stopping me from asking the same), but it's certainly not outrageous.

It is a good looking thing.

My opinion is that the asking price is fair assuming it's in good shape.

I probably shouldn't even be replying here (as I'm a nonexpert), but you can have my opinion for what it's worth.

Hey mate I appreciate your opinion, probably cause it's what I wanted to hear hehe.

As long as it has no major problem that he's not telling me about, I'll be happy to pay 700 now I've posted here. I just didn't want to buy it then find out it's worth half that. I didn't think it would be but being newish to Hamers (I played a Hamer USA bass for years) I just wanted to be sure.

So thanx, appreciate the replies...Can't wait to see it. I'll post back after I get it.

Yup, if it's in as good condition as it looks and you like it, $700 is not a bad price to pay at all.

Well I'm now the proud owner of a 1994 Seafoam Green USA Hamer Daytona. Came with original HSC in excelent shape. It's Hamer time lol.

Cleaned it up like new, polished the frets, blocked the Wilkinson trem, strung it with D'Addario Jazz lights (12's), straightened the neck a little to compensate (it had girlie 9's on it lol), intonation was spot on so no adjustment needed there, and the action is good, slightly high but I like to suffer a little.

The only prob I can find is a slight split in the wood at the neck joint where the wood is thin, but I don't think it's a prob and a little wood glue might fix it up?

Also I'm assuming the scratch plate is a standard Fender fit? I want to replace the one ply white one with a white/black pearl 3 ply.

I'm lovin git!

BTW are the solid colours Alder?

Yeah it was a little off around the neck joint, just had to shave it down a bit, otherwise the screw holes lined up fine.

I ended up with a 4 ply, wht/blk/wht/pearl.

It's amazing the difference it made with black knobs and stuff. Wasn't a big fan of Seafoam but the pearl and black makes it really classy looking.

A tip for cleaning old stained nitro finishes use plastic polish, forget the Formula 65. Plastic polish will bring the paint up like new.

Pics as soon as I get a camera.

BTW that's an incredible top in your pic! That would be one to hang on the wall eh? I'd be afraid of dinging it.
