Not selling all my humbucker guitars as I seldom use them, this is the last one. This is a Hamer Newport Pro. Seth Lover pu's solid Spruce top solid 1 piece mahogany back, sperzial Imperial tuners, tone pros stop tail.

The only issue with this guitar is the two small holes near the strap button. The previous owner must installed a trapize tail piece or something. There are no marks on the top however, and one tiny scratch on the side near the top bout. Typical flawless Hamer construction.

You could replace the Seth Lovers with Phat Cats or HD Z-90s and keep it. Independent of its pickups, the spruce top Newport is an awesome axe. Does things other electrics can't.

I guess I could, I'd probably get Antiquities...

What, and stick with humbuckers? I don't know of any humbucker-sized single-coils in the Antiquity line.

Their Phat Cats are really good (and were made for the Newport). There are several 'bucker-sized single coils, such as the Rio Grande Bastard or Fat Bastard and the Harmonic Design Z-90 (shown below, available in black, creme, or tortoise) and Fralin Twangmaster (also shown). Then there's TV Jones.

I had a buyer and as usual I decided to play it again just to be sure. After playing it for an hour, I decided not to sell. I might make a dedicated jazz guitar out of it instead.

When I brought it around to listen to various Gibsons the Hamer bested all of them and considering what they cost I'd be an idiot to sell it, especially when a Gibson costs $500 more and sounds like junk next to it.

I still might think about pu's as I would like to take away a bit of the high end. Would Antiquities do this? I leave it as a humbucker for now.

Good decision, put some flatwounds on it and you can even keep the Seth Lovers.
