PIF: Yamaha G-160 Student Classical Guitar

I will try to spare you the long story and get right to the point (though it is a nice story). B)

Many years ago I was given this guitar by a friend on the condition I learn to play (he knew I wanted to but had never bothered).

So, this is my first guitar ever.

It is a lower grade Yamaha classical that got my friend through four years of music at the university.

It doesn't sound particularly good. It doesn't look particularly good. It has lots of wear, and someone rubbed the word Yamaha off the headstock. It stays in tune and isn't terribly hard to play though.

It's not in good shape, but it's not in terrible shape.

There is an older Shadow saddle pickup in it - I never thought it sounded worth a darn, but some people like them.

I have a well-traveled SKB hard case for it, complete with some holes and other wear. I used to lug this on every business trip as a beater guitar for hotel room boredom.

The pickup and case are probably worth something, but the guitar itself doesn't have much financial value.

HOWEVER, the sentimental value on this thing is through the roof for me. This year is its fifteenth anniversary with me, and I'd like to offer someone else the same favor I received.

So, if you know anyone who would like to learn a little guitar, I'd like to pass this to them under the same conditions I had. I think that's the best way to keep the karma flowing; no use for it here in my closet if someone would be happy to have a guitar.

I got in a bit of an emotional struggle with my last attempt at guitar gifting, so I apologize in advance for the ones who won't get it. I wish I had more of them.

So, please send me any ideas you may have for a worthy recipient of this POS I love so much.

Hate to bump my own ad, but I know the bulk of HFC viewing happens on weekdays, so I figure I better get it to the top for Monday...

Edited to add that I know a lot of people might be happy with a guitar, but I want this one to go to a 'special' case. I'm pretty attached to it, so I want to make sure it's in good hands. I'm sure I can find some local option for a deserving recipient, but I thought I should at least ask here in case someone knows someone who would really benefit from it.

I played this guitar exclusively for five years before buying something "nice," so it's not leaving unless it's for a great cause. B)
