harry65 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 hey dudes, not looking for a twin or super reverb, my back is bad enough already , lookin for a princeton reverb, deluxe reverb,80's super champ , maybe a vibrolux reverb but that's gettin heavy, don't need blackface, silverface will do , i know,i know, who's gonna part with a killer old fender, figured it was worth a try , irs refund is burnin a hole in the pocket....................
JefeMaximo Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 'tis a noble quest. I would recommend adding a pre-'65 non-reverb Princeton to your list. (These are the brownface and white-knob versions.) Sounds fantastic, is very lightweight and pretty loud. If you swap in a 12" speaker like I did, it is very loud. No reverb, but everything else about these amps is so good that I'm happy to use a reverb pedal.
peedenmark7 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I wish I still had my'66 black faced deluxe amp...wonderful tone ,plenty of pete anderson grind.... sold it because it didnt have reverb in the early 90s' , paid $400 for it along with a flawless white '62 sg... DOH those days are long gone .
harry65 Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 well i have found a 1982 vibrolux reverb 2x10 on a craigslist at what looks like an insane price , about a two and a half hour drive , if i'm not mistaken that was before printed circuit boards , still ptp , dude says he's owned it a dozen years and it's been buried in the closet , wants $425. , can i pass on that????????????
tbabinec Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 You do specify vintage, but note that the Gear Page Amps has a number of Headstrong amps for sale. They have the circuit and the sound without the dings and repairs.
Jakeboy Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 +1 on the Brownface Princeton or Deluxe...call Jim Nickelson at lil Dawg Amps & he'll make you an exact clone for cheap....compared to anyone else & they are incredible amps...
