ArnieZ Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Anyone own/have significant experience with this model? Specifically how the redwood top impacts the tone. How is it different than a Studio? Does it push more toward an Artist, a solid mahogany guitar or is it just totally it's own animal? I have a chance to trade for one but it is not locally accessible and am curious to what the deal is with these.ArnieZ

santellavision Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 My Redwood was amazing. Some believe Redwood is brighter, I didn't notice that. There are so many other elements in the entire guitar, Brazilian rosewood neck, SLU p/ups etc. Overall, they are exceptional instruments. And they look awesome!!!
burningyen Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Love that color, looks like wide flamed mahogany.
gwayne Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Kind of off-topic, but after the Redwood Studios came out I asked Hamer to make me a Redwood-topped Newport Pro. They said no.
georgeshep Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 These are great guitars. I have one. I love it. A super premium guitar. A bit toppier. Not meant for thrash or metal, for sure. But great for all kinds of other stuff. Here it is over a blues track:http://www.mixposure.com/index.php?t=mixpo...&band_id=17
atquinn Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 My Redwood Studio is noticeable darker than my other Studios. Might be the ebony fretboard on my other Studios? Not sure. Either way, the Redwood is a great all-arounder.-Austin

It does have a little more zing than a straight hog guitar.arniez
