savethematches Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Thanks guys! I was wondering if anyone would notice me today. It's been a good day. My highly talented wife made a big home-made breakfast and let me sleep late before eating. We then went to Champaign and walked around the mall, leaving with a Dokken Live in Japan DVD, filmed in 95 or so. Headed to Barnes & Noble next, only to discover that my idea for a novel has already been completed by someone else. That ticked me off. I had the idea for a year or two and finally started writing it a few weeks ago. I may go ahead and try to finish mine though, just for the sake of doing it. Capped the day off with an early supper at Olive Garden before heading home. An update for those who've been following my personal dramas lately; took Dad to St. John's Hospital in Springfield on Thursday. Catscan revealed that the cancer has spread from his colon to his bladder, liver, and lymph nodes. He's supposed to contact a surgeon Monday, but the ER doctors doubted that surgery would be successful. So, it's been a little rough trying to keep him and Mom from breaking down, but they seem to be hanging in for now. He's lost over forty pounds this summer and has practically no muscle left. I'm getting to the point that I wish his suffering would be over, but I think that'll probably be pretty soon anyway. Now, so I don't leave on a depressing note, I played an outdoor gig last night with my Christian rock group. The set went pretty well, even though we weren't the tightest. The Jackson and the Behringer were made to go together and I let loose with a few screaming licks in our 30 minute set. It started sprinkling when we had about three songs left, started raining steadily after our last song, and became an absolute cloudburst as soon as we had our gear off stage. I know that God was watching, because I no more than had my gear under cover before he let it cut loose! The last band played inside the church, and they rocked! The singer/guitarist was playing a tobacco burst strat w/ humbucker through on old Fender tube amp, and had the SRV thing nailed. Add a funk bassist, solid drummer and chick backup singer, and you get the picture. I enjoyed it immensely. Unfortunately, no Hamers were seen. Again, thanks for remembering me. It's good to know that friendship can be found anywhere, even on an internet message board.
tomteriffic Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 Glad it was a good one Marty! Hang in, bro.
