Question

I recently picked up a USA Diablo with a reverse head stock and maple fret board, with mother of pearl are abalone (not sure) Dot fret markers. It has a honey colored see thru body finish with Seymour Duncan jb/59 pickups, with a push pull coil tap. serial # is 231101. I am having a hard time finding any info on this guitar is it rare? I cant find another one like it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome and congrats on the Diablo!

I'm no expert on this model but we do have several experts here, so you should have an answer in a day or two.

How do you like it so far? Your first Hamer?

1992 model, most were reverse headstock until '94. Maple board is unusual but not that rare, other than that it's a fairly bog standard Diablo.

What he said. I owned a maple-fretboard Diablo for a little while. Definitely rarer than the usual rosewood (and perhaps slightly more common than ebony), but they don't seem to sell for more.

The push/pull doesn't seem like it is stock. Custom or after-market?

The Hamer Fan Club write up describes the Diablo thusly:

Diablo (1992 - 1997) - contoured alder body with offset double cutaways, 24 fret bolt-on maple neck (25.5 inch scale length) with rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays. The peghead is not angled back and is reversed on early examples (up to 1994) except Limited Edition guitars (which also have birds-eye maple necks). Fitted with two Seymour Duncan or DiMarzio pickups and Floyd-rose trem.. The Diablo II (1995 - 1997) has an additional middle position single coil pickup.

Yes its my first hamer very happy with it. To me it plays just as good as my Ibanez prestige that I bought from Rich Harris at Ibanez rules, super clean guitar for 18 years old. Just weird to me that they go for so cheap if you do find one, and how they never reached that High end status, must have been the timing the whole grunge look was in shred was dead LOL.
