currypowder Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I have an abundance of vintage Japanese guitars that are simply not getting the attention they deserve. Let's see if we can get these in the hands of someone who will play them. Not too interested in trades as I'm trying to actually reduce the collection, but feel free to offer them up, you never know. I'll start with the 2 pointy guitars. 1976 Greco V w/ stinger headstock in "korina" finish. Basically an Ibanez Rocket Roll as they were made alongside them. This one is a definite player with many dings and playwear. All cosmetic as it plays and sounds great. Also, someone in the past modded it by adding a strat-type input jack on the lower horn (see pics). No breaks or repairs other than the input jack mod. The pickups are early Dimarzio PAFs (non-original to the guitar). To the best of my knowledge, everything else is original, including the hard shell case. $600 shipped. DECIDED TO KEEP THIS ONE. http://s29.photobucket.com/albums/c270/cur...der1/Greco%20V/ 1981 Greco EX800HB Explorer. Basically an Ibanez Destroyer (although I don't believe Ibanez made one in this configuration). Another player that has been abused cosmetically, but is structurally sound with no breaks or repairs and is 100% original. Black, body and neck binding (w/ fret edge binding) and trapezoid inlays. Very rare (I've only seen 3 for sale over the years, and own 2 of them). In the past, someone must have put a sticker and used some paint to "pretty it up". Then used a paint scraper or something like it to remove it all. See the pics. When I bought it, I thought I might have it refinished. However, when I restung it and adjusted the neck and bridge, it played and sounded so good, I decided to keep it as is. Gigged many times with no worries about dinging it up any more. Only selling it because I have 2 other Greco explorers. Comes with a non original Hamer case that it fits perfectly in. $550 shipped. TRADE PENDING http://s29.photobucket.com/albums/c270/cur...reco%20EX800HB/ Last, but certainly not least, is a 1977 Electra x-410 Jazz Strad in almost perfect condition. It's a 335 style semi-hollowbody guitar. These were manufactured in the same Matsumoku factory as the Grecos and Ibanez. This is another rare find as I've only seen a handful for sale over the years. And this one is about as mint as you are going to get for a 33 year old guitar. I bought it from the original owner, and he must have played it for a bit then stuck it under his bed. There are some pic scratches on the pick guard and the gold plating is worn on the bridge and stoptail, but I cannot find any marks or dings anywhere. Comes with the original hard shell case. $825 shipped. TRADE PENDING http://s29.photobucket.com/albums/c270/cur...Electra%20X410/
formula73 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Now THIS is tempting...It sure is, isn't it. That frickin Explorer...oof. Daddy like. I ain't got no frickin money, but I could maybe try working selling something or maybe a trade. I have to see what I got that's cool as hell and I'm willing to get rid of. I have an idea, maybe...
currypowder Posted June 15, 2010 Author Posted June 15, 2010 Succumb to the temptation! I think the cash prices are more than fair, but feel free to make offers of cash, trades, or both. The worst I can say is no.
Scottcrud Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Man, that Explorer is the shit! hmmmm, vacation with the Wife in Cozumel or the Explorer... Gotta think on this.
BTMN Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 /\ I had to dig out a couple "Flying Vs" today to quench the G.A.S. that V has produced. Good thing I'm broke, between the Natural P90 Special, this V and Explorer, and the impending final payment on my Dean Baby Z custom order, I'm in "distress" over here. MUST RESIST!!!!! Life IS Good!
currypowder Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 Trade pending on the Greco Explorer and Electra
