Morris Davis Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Hey, i recently got a Mirage I without a proper trem bar. I'd like to order a replacement -- what should I order? It's a 94 with a Wilkinson bridge. Thanks for the help ... Morris
atquinn Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 I have trem bars coming out the wazoo, so if someone know what the diameter on the bars is, I can check to see if one of mine would fit and send it off to you.-Austin

I'm happy to pay you. Can someone let us know the correct diameter?
wil50n Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 If it is the same trem as what is on a Daytona, the bar diameter is 4.76 mm or 3/16 in. I had to purchase a steel rod to replace the missing trem arm on my Daytona, and that size rod fits perfectly.

I have a Daytona, and a bar that fits the Daytona doesn't fit the Mirage.

I remember it was pretty close (wonder if it was a plating issue or something - plating on the bars and plating down the trem arm hole causing it to not fit. I thought some bridges had a set-screw that tweaked a bushing to put a little drag on the bar and hold it in place).I built some bars out of stainless steel precision ground bar stock, and I know those fit Daytonas but I can't recall if I ever tried them in my Mirage back when I owned it. PM me if you want me to send out a few blanks or bent bars out of my leftover materials (no charge, but I get to building them when I can lol).
Lockbody Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 I've got a bar that Stonge made that I'm not using. Send me your shipping address and I'll send it your way.I think I have one of the short, "palm" bars, too. If I can find it, I'll throw it in there.

mrhappy Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 It certainly doesn't make any sense that the bars would be a different diameter but it seems some don't fit others...FYI... I have 7 Mirages and 3 Daytonas and they all seem to play nicey-nice with each other as far as bar swapping goes.
atquinn Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 7 Mirages and 3 Daytonas?!? MrHappy is right! - Austin
morningstar Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 atquinn's Daytona was once mine.It had three bars: a factory Wilky bar and the two Stongemon bars (long and palm bar).I did not realize the vintage type Wilkys on Mirages were different in any way at all. I learn something every day.morningstar
MCChris Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Is there a Stongemon-or-otherwise bar that's slightly smaller in diameter so it hangs out of the way versus staying in place? If so, I'd like one of those.
