Source for Tayio Yuden CDRs

Looking for a good source for Tayio Yuden Silver CDRs if someone has one. My source rose their prices over 50% since my last order. Have the prices on media gone up recently?

If someone has another brand they use that can meet TY's reliability, i'm all ears as well. ;)

Thanks.

Thanks, Mitch. If that was the price after shipping, we'd be in good shape... ;)

I found a source at MediaSupply ($0.22 per CD after shipping), but i've never used them before. Anyone have any experience with them? 22c is getting close to my old price point. (i'm trying not to have to raise my rates, and my margins are already thin...)

Thanks.

veatch,

I don't have a source for you, but I can add that anybody who uses CD-Rs, there is no substitute. Taiyo Yuden are the best brand out there (called "That's" in Japan). Why the best? It was rare that I got a bad one in the bunch. I stlll have a few of them left from my time in Japan.

I don't think I've used mediasupply, but have used supermediastore before.

Looking at their site now, I don't remember previously seeing any JVC affiliation with TY, but a couple years ago when using them for all my configuration management needs it's all our SOP allowed us to use. Never had an issue with them.

Yup - that's why i've used TY exclusively. In the last shipment of 1200, i had one bad one - Looking at the CD, it was cracked - probably in shipment, so not their fault.

In the past 10 years, i've had *maybe* 5 bad burns. That's well under 0.1%.

I hope the quality remains high under the JVC name. If i understand what happened, it should.

I'll take a look at supermediastore.

Thanks, all.

Tayo Yuden CDRs die prematurely... the absolute shortest life span I've ever encountered. They're pretty much dead after the 10 year mark in my experience. Sony CDRs last about as long too but with mad error rates.

I like Verbatim and Memorex personally. Didn't Tayo Yuden produce the first CD?
