Subtract the "may not be" and replace the "may" with "is very likely" and it's exactly what I thought when I read that.

The 78/79 Sunburst with the serial number sanded off the headstock sold for $910.

Wow, can't believe that. More then likely it was a 79 and you can never recover the serial # so you can pretty it up but IMHO was too much money for it.

I don't know but they got a good deal. If it was another color Feynman would be a little richer.
