savethematches Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Is there a pedal that can make a standard-tuned guitar sound as if it's in alternate tuning? For example, some songs require me to be detuned 1/2 step, and others maybe a whole step. If there is such a pedal, does it work well? Any experiences? I'm getting tired of dragging around an extra guitar for such limited usage.
bubs_42 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Here you go.http://www.geartree.com/p-35238-morpheus-drop-tune-pedal.aspx
zorrow Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 There is this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifiers-effects/morpheus-droptune-octave-guitar-effects-pedalTried it once and it does sound quite convincing.
Jeff R Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I used the Whammy'esque pitch-bend-octaver-woowoo-whatever treadle pedal on my old Boss ME-70 to drop the guitar a 1/2 step on the fly to learn new songs that were down-tuned back when I was in my band, but it was strictly a learning tool to my ears. Overall tone and often tracking suffered greatly. No way I would have gigged with it.

Tracks perfectly, almost no latency and doesn't significantly alter the tone. Only works using a wall-wart, cannot be run on batteries because of high current draw. No downsides at all, really.
savethematches Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 I guess I could sell the extra guitar and buy that pedal. Thanks for the info, guys!
