Hamer Diablo Limited Ed 94 USA

Hi,

So, I did know Hamer for two months or so, but they're really hard to get in Portugal.

Last week got myself a 'good deal', a 1994 USA Hamer Diablo, Limited Ed. It is selling for 750€, but I got a trade in, in which I basicly pay 530€ (the stuff I'm trading is worth the value of the guitar, but I got good deals in it too). But studying the trade I got to see not much about this ed in particular, at least this year. The only thing I did see is birds eye maple, but in the photos it doesn't look like that, but I'm no expert in that field. So I want to know what I'm dealing with, and come to you guys in hopes of that.

-is this guitar worth the price he wants? How much is it worth?

-did it come with a special case? He's giving it to me with an Alvarez case

-is it really limited ed? I know it is 94 though

-is it USA made?

There's some photos for you to see it. Looks really good condition, apart from the apple sticker, and some 'use stains', which will come right off. The pus aren't original, are Malagoli RL-Legacy, really good braziliian made pus, check on youtube, very fusion tone.

In the photos is the serial for the guitar, if it's wprth anything:

Looks like a good deal, but I'm no Hamer expert. Hope to be part of the herd some time soon though.

Thankz and cheers for all

PS: I'm used to Ibanez guitar and necks, do you think I'll go fine with those?

+1 I'd love to hear about these limited edition diablos. I know nothing of them save for a few bits I culled from a quick Google search a few minutes ago.

Birdseye maple necks.

Some had non- reversed head stocks

A series of 20 in the UK had toggle switches.

JB/59's or Dimarzios

Anything else?

I wouldn't really say that's a "Limited Edition" model. Looks like a regular factory-spec Diablo with changed pickups.

That would probably sell for @ $600 here in the States with the original Hamer case.

Original pickups were probably Black Seymours, JB and 59. Too early for the Dimarzios.

I think it is natural rather than Aztec Gold, which is a bit unusual.

So, I bought the beast. I'm now the proud owner of (supposed limited edition) 94 USA Made Hamer Diablo. This thing plays like a charm, slhigtly fatter and rounder neck that I'mused to (Ibanez owner), but with a very rich sound, very clean. And the photos don't do justice to the axe. Really happy with it so far.

Just for future reference 'most' limited editions have the number of the edition stamped underneath the serial number but we are talking Hamer here, the original production line custom shop, so nothings set in stone although by this sort of time it would have if it was from a limited run (it doesn't really effect the value IMHO). I think you'll enjoy the Diablo, a real counterpoint in terms of feel and tone to Ibanez shredders.

It tastes shreddy, but with kind of a fender feel to it. Still can't describe well, but I'm really enjoying it so far, and I'm noticing some differences on my play due to the neck.

I personally wouldn't have gone much over 500 Euro's for a Diablo (considering I got my 'all original' 88 Cali w/case for 450 Euro) but if you like it so much, price isn't an issue...
