One for the plumbers

Got a house full of Moen single handle faucets. Over the years, I've replace numerous cartridges. Was going with some off brand, that I seemed to get about 6 months out before they'd start leaking. Finally went with a genuine Moen cartridge... one year later, and its leaking. Am I missing a step, or a quick repair/adjustment when installing these things? I'd replace the whole faucet, but the one giving me the most trouble is in a shower, behind a sealed wall.

This is the cartridge I am talking about:

Nope, you're not missing anything. They're notorious for that.

All you can do is make sure they're lubed up really well before you install them, and as you've already found out, stick with the Moen cartridge.

Had better luck with the Deltas over the years compared to the Moens. Don't know if there's anything to that, just seems that way...

Doesn't Moen have a lifetime warranty? How'd they know you were/weren't the original purchaser? Give'm a call.

the guy at Lowes pointed that out to me today. I think I will call them. He also suggested instead of replacing the entire cartridge, to just replace the O rings. They were out of the ones I needed, so I bought another cartridge.

Is your water hard?

According to the Mrs, it is, and I do mean the water, lol. You think that is impacting these cartridges?

Hard water leaves deposits which can build up and cause issues. I just replaced That exact part after 17 years of use by the original.

We had a problem with the spray hose on a Price-Pfiester kitchen faucet and they replaced it no problem.
