On a 1st gen Cruise with the PJ pickup set and three knobs, what's the function of each control knob?

Also, any idea what the original pickups are?

Thanks in advance.

Volume, volume, tone setup, which allows infinite blending of the 2 pickups. I believe they were DiMarzio units but do not know if they were regular "F@#$er" - spec or tweaked to Hamer spec in some way.

I was informed they are these and these - still making them, so there are likely more people than just me that think they sound great! Mine have Patent Applied For stickers on them, so DiMarzio must have just started making them around '81 or '82.

They have an interesting construction compared to the original Fender (where the polepieces are the magnets).

ETA: the DiMarzio site says the P was introduced in 1977 and the J in 1979. So much for fast-tracking the patent!

If you are asking in regards to that Trans Cherry 82 Cruisebass on EBAY...that one is all original (knobs changed but orig in case.)

It has the narrower original neck profile. I bought it back in Feb but the neck got cracked in shipping, so I sent it back. It wasn't a total break and seller had it repaired. I was going to keep it if his repair guy sprayed it decent but, apparently, the repair guy IS COLOR BLIND (really is, not kidding.) he saw the Trans Cherry as black and over sprayed the repair black!!

The seller said he would have him redo it....but he only sprayed it a lighter black...HAHAHAHAHAHA

How the hell can you paint when you are colorblind? I guess maybe total refins but touch-up has to be impossible.

Anyway....the bass was killer when it arrived in Feb, even with the cracked headstock. Overall, incredibly clean. Just a real shame it wasn't packed right and got cracked in transit.

So, Seller sent a refund and it is back on EBAY.

Also...seller is a VERY nice guy and former guitar store owner.

Color blind painter? Isn't that like Oscar Pistorius being a place kicker?
