Steve Haynie Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 This is why I DROVE my 4-digit Hamer Standard Bass to Greg. That's 9 hours round trip each time for me. It is a 10 hour drive for me in each direction, but I would rather make a road trip with an old guitar than risk shipping whenever possible. Judas Priest was in Greg's neighborhood this summer, so that was a good time to get a guitar to him.
Hackubus Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Ouch. Truly a shitty deal. Feel bad for ya guys.
sonicblue1960 Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 I have continued to rail Fedex on this and believe me, they will not soon forget Sonic Rick's unforgiving rant and rail. The really sick part is that it was supposed to be insured for $5000, not $3000, the Fedex chick was too busy playing with her scanner and I did not double check the receipt. I am not letting Fedex fuck me for $2000, no way JOE ZAY!Here's the lesson-ALWAYS check your receipts, double check and then Insure it for more(yeah, it might cost a few more bucks)I packed it like a mutha, yeah it took me an extra hour, but no way can they say it was not packed properly.I am blown away by some of the stuff I receive, sometimes just a case wrapped with duct tape!!!Do all your HFC brothers a solid, pack and insure like you would want it done for you, 'cause next time, it will be your "This Sucks " thread, and you can't say I didn't tell ya so.My $2000 bit of advice...
Turdus Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 With Fedex around here, you fill out a form, then they retype all the info in their computer. By the time you leave, you have your copy, plus a register receipt that also states declared value. If you wrote $5,000 for insurance, and it is clearly on your copy, but not on their receipt, then I think you can prove typographical error, and have a good chance at recovery.
sonicblue1960 Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Actually, when you ship it overnight, instead of ground, there is no declared value on the register receipt, the girl filled in the declared value on the hand written receipt, and then stapled that receipt covering the hand receipt. I just checked the amount charged to my credit card, and went on my way, thinking about the day the music died ( I shipped it on Lennons rebith day ). I just checked all my ground receipts, and the declared value appears on the register receipt, but NOT on Express(Air) shipments!!I called Fedex and confirmed this, be careful guys.
earachemyeye Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 IDIOTS!!!! Man... it hurts to look at it. I sincerely hope it all works out for you guys. Good luck. At least it'll get fixed properly.Joe
