Backlinemark Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Hello. I've kinda been offered a Miller Hamer 6 a side headstock (gold back sides/ red front/ white logo). Been used and front colour has faded. But neck feels ok. It doesn't have a case- what case should it be in/ will it fit. Is there anything I should be looking for? What kind of price do they usually go for? Thanks for your help. Mark
cmatthes Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 The non-form fitting Standard/Blitz case will work. With case in nice condition, they can fetch @$2k, but the range is all over the place below that. I've seen one for $900 on the (very!)low side within the last 4-5 years, but most tend to be around the $1,500 and up area.
Backlinemark Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Thanks Chris. Now to persade other half that it is a steal! LolMark
serial Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 These are GREAT guitars. Not gimmicky like the Dean Busch or Bud pieces of garbage. The Hamer Miller and MGDs are built to the same high standards as any Hamer Sunburst, etc.
Backlinemark Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Sorry- just want to double check- is the case you mean the same one that LostArt/ Vintage lists as "20. Hamer Standard Case- NOS Hamer case for the Standard and Standard custom will probably also fit Gibson explorer and other similarly shaped guitars."or should I try and get a red coloured inside one that’s more period correct?
cmatthes Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 You will have a tough time finding a red lined case, certainly for under $200-$250. The Millers were also at the mid-'80s transition to the black lined cases. If you can find one that isn't form fit on the inside, that'll work (large, open body space). Honestly, the case doesn't matter that much as long as you can get one that fits properly!

Andrew Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 The front colour fade seriously reduces the value, at least by a third, compared to an example in good condition.
Backlinemark Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Once again thanks for all your help! You guys are ace. If I end up with it I'll post pics. Mark
