JimiH Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Been searching for a decent backing track minus guitar to Girl Gone Bad by Van Halen.Best one is this which is total craphttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8Iylroa11wAlso went here which had a decent one with vocals but it includes the guitar.http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/play/van_halen/girl_gone_bad.htmGeoff
Bobby Marshall Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 If anything exists, maybe other Geoff has a lead on it. Did you consider looking for a midi track? Also, if you have garage band or something similar, creating the basic drum and bass tracks can be less time than scouring the internet.
JimiH Posted July 27, 2015 Author Posted July 27, 2015 CheersI downloaded the guitar pro file and from there I can switch off the guitar bit. Sound a bit naff but will serve its purpose.Geoff
zenmindbeginner Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Well... the Van Halen backing tracks that are out there that are of any quality are "Guitar Hero" or "Rock Band" game rips.Only "Hot for Teacher", "Panama" and "Jump" were selected for those games.Alex Van Halen's drum sound (and playing) is extremely hard to achieve, so most non game-rips are pretty shitty sounding. He's got these brilliant and splashy sounding cymbals with a dry and throaty drum sound... his flams are out of this world and not many drummers can do them properly. Alex Van Halen gets NO fucking respect from the drum community, they are ignorant to his genius. The best thing one could do is to sample his hits from sections of songs where only drums are playing and try to put something together. That song is brutal... the Ripley guitar for the intro allowed him to compress certain strings more than others to get just the right blend for his tapped parts to ring proudly. You play this song good?

Biz Prof Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Slightly off-topic, but "Girl Gone Bad" is one badass, motherf_____g song. That album had a couple of pop/boogie songs on it, but overall, the entire disc had a very So Cal, minor-key-dominant, hard rock feel to it and featured some of Ed's best rhythm playing. It probably also explains why I was mildly disappointed in 5150 when it came out (and that album rocked). ;-)

mathman Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Yes they are great. I've use those to do quite a few songs.
JimiH Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Still no Girl gone bad though but enough there to pick my way through
mathman Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Thanks for bringing this up. Got me working on "I could have Lied" by the RHCP. Great solo to learn. I may try to play all the parts. The bass and drums are pretty easy. Using the separate tracks makes it easier to learn all the parts.
mathman Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I'm not ready for Van Halen tracks, but I am getting this solo pretty close. It was fun recording my acoustic for the this track also. I really love working with these mogg files.Fun as a way to learn recording and getting sounds and tones to sound the way you want.https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88221982/I%20could%20have%20lied%20solo-%208_6_15%2C%209.58%20PM.mp3
